I was watching it as soopa said and nothing opened at 3800 RPM's. The actullator is directly in the middle behind the engin, is it real noticible when it opens?
Does this mean i am driving a CL-P with a Type-S badge, I feel like such a rice boy!

It's pretty obvious, but I don't see how you can check it by yourself unless you tie something on it like a small twig or something. Were you watching it while someone else revved the car or were you by yourself??

You gotta step on it for the aculator to open.

okay...
first, you don't have to do it slowly. It should happen **around** 3800rpms. Mine doesn't happen until 4000rpms exactly. Try revving it to at least 5000rpms before you determine if it's not functioning correctly.
second, Ash...
they're talkin' about the IMRC module that controls the secondary intake on the CL-S engine. If you do a search on IMRC you'll find plenty of info about it. Some member's IMRC's have broken (even twice... poor droid )

It should open at 3800 no matter how fast you depress the pedal.
I have seen it open while taking like 30 seconds to slowly rev to 3800 rpm... or while flooring it.
Stoned, if you didnt see shit happen... its likely that it isnt working. Take it into Park Ave Acura and have them check her out.

This seems to be a big prob on the type-s..
So if the actulator dont work then our car is a CL-P..RIGHT?
I'm gonna try it again today, i think im looking at the right thing.
its in the back in the middle of the engine..

Try taking the top plastic cover of the engine you will see it better. If you take the cover out, you will see a small pulley like in the side of the intake manifold this thing connect with cable thru the actuator motor. I checked mine last week and it works, and you can really see the small pulley turn...

Stoned- Just stop by and we'll check it. Don't want you running into some old lady while you are checking for secondary throttle movement

If the actuator is not working you are most likely producing ~225HP at the crank if not less The second stage butterfly not opening is pretty useless and is hampering performance, intake velocity, and backpressure a bit by not opening when your car can use it the most...

If your IMRC is not functioning properly it is mostly a performance issue. The way it works is somewhat similar to the way 4 Barrel Carbeurators work, where two barrels would run until you hit the gas hard and popped open the other two barrels. Such that with our cars (Type S), under normal driving only one butterfly will open as the car will shift prior to hitting enough RPM to open the second butterfly. However, if you get on th gas hard the dual stage induction opens one butterfly first until ~3800-4000 RPM, in the meanwhile it has a pressurizing effect within the mainfold so when the second butterfly opens it adds a psuedo supercharging effect by introducing more air volume. There will be no harm to your car if it not opening as the pressure variant is minimal (even though it helps a bit). The computer (MAP/ECU/PFM)constantly maintain metrics on your intake, O2, exhaust etc ... etc.. etc... so you shouldnt be doing any damage. Hope that helped.
