I drove a Audi A4 3.0 today and loved it (i had to concentrate on not drooling all over this car).. Im trying to figure out how i can get rid of my CL-S and get a A4 without my wife knowing . This car will definitly be beating the crap out of BMW's, Lexus' and anything in its class (Sorry TL-S owners) in any comparisons the "Auto Mags" want to throw at it. It costs more than a TL-S but (IMHO) its well worth it. If your a car person (if your on this forum U prolly are!?!?) you need to give this car a test drive. I havent wanted a car this bad since i test drove my CL-S when i owned a 97 3.0 CL....

HP is around 220 (stock) @ 6300 rpm . Im sure with a few mods it can get quite high (if you know anything about VW engines)
Torque is 221 ft-lbs. @ 3200 rpm.
I scaired the sales guy $hitless when i flew out of the lot (used to driving my CL-S). Its pretty peppy, a lot more powerful feeling than a regular CL. The manual would definitly be a treat .

I dont know about 1/4 mile and 0-60 times. This is definitly a car you will have to drive to get the real "feel" of a special car.

 

You think it is because of the AWD and GREAT low end torque but the acceleration is not as good as the CL-S. Check out the 0-60 times. The 3.0T is 6.8 and the 2001 2.8T is 7.2-7.3 for the manual and another few tenths for the auto.

Don't get me wrong, I think Audi's are great cars but the VW Passat GLX w/ manual and 190 hp / 205? ft.lb torque is almost as good and much cheaper. (I'm in Acura value mindset, sorry)

But I like the luxury of the Acura CLS better. And they are more modifiable.

 

luxury, maybe... but modifiable?! haha what have you been smokin?? there are so many more parts out there for audi's than there are for the cl-s... the tunability of an audi is much better than our cars

 

Yes and No, let's say, NOT all Audi's are that tunable, from what I speculate the new 3.0 will not have THAT much tunability, the only reason Audi's and VW's are known for tunability is because they utilize low pressure turbo's...this makes it easy for an ECU chip to more than double the boost coming out of the turbos...thats why it gains so much power, but the 3.0 isn't a turbo engine... go figure...But nonetheless Neuspeed as well as GIAC, APR and other chip makers will probably make a conservative ECU for it...and other parts will be probably available.

I was a VW guy until i moved to the Austin area. The only dealership here is run by a bunch of a$$holes that pissed me off when i went to trade in my 92 Passat GLX. My cousin owned a Acura at the time and we went to drop his car off and i purchased my first Acura. Im on my 2nd CL (S) but still have a little love for VW's and what they can do. If i were to get the A4 it would be the 1.8T. With headers, cat back exhaust, CAI and a chip the 4 banger will smoke the 6 on a regular basis. The 4's are tuned down so that they dont make the 6's look like crap. If you want to know more about VW mods check out greedspeeds and VW Vortex web sites.

 

I looked at teh A4 3.0s before buying my cl, although it feels fast, its really not that fast. Plus interior is still small even though is better than the old models. Oh and no coupe.
