I saw this topic on other web sites....some ppl say the R is faster..some say the cl-s..
i am not sure if this topic is discuss here before...
anybody raced a type R b4??..and the result..??
i think it would be pretty close~~ the R has WEIGHT advantage....and we got more HP...but still...which one is faster??

Depends on where you are going to race them. If they are on straight roads such as on freeway, I think CL Type S is faster. However, if they are being raced on curvy roads such as for slalom, then Integra Type R should win.

The Type-R driver would also have to hit every shift perfect to have a chance.
One of the few advantages of AUTO, just stomp it and go.

Add the springs and they don't have a chance in any type of race unless they were modded.

i will never forget the first car i raced when i got my cl-s was a Type R, i was ahead of him from 0-60 on about 1/4 of a car, but he was reallly close, THOUGH he had an exhuast and i really cant remember, but i think headers, though i am sure about the exhuast, he was really cool, at the next red light we talked a bit.

It's REALLY close it depends on both drivers. My CL-S is no longer bone stock, I have ran several 14.2 and have not run under a 14.4 at the track (the last few times anyway) and my friends Type-R is stock and is always right there when we race. I usually give him the move, but it takes till almost 100 MPH for me to make up the car or so I end up giving him. So far I have not gotten in an all out race with him past 120, but I know he would kill us up there. The Type-R accelerates almost the same in 5th as in 4th!! The RPM drop from 4th to 5th is like 750RPM!!! This is CLOSE gearing something our cars would kick serious ass with. (BTW our RPM drop from 4th to 5th is ~2000RPM)

Type R's are supposed to run 14.8's and so are we depending on the circumstances. so its just a matter if he jams the gears right, he'd more than likely nudge us in the end but it'd be so close that you really couldnt tell who would be the winner at 0-60

ok, as a person that has both an 01CLs and a 00ITR in his garage i'm vouching for the CLs.
When my brother and I first got our cars we went to Raceway Park here in Jersey. we ran head to head only once. That was the first time either or us had dragged. My 1/4mi time was 14.7 and his was 14.9. Mind you, he still hadn't even fully broken his car in yet. He only had around 400miles on his car while i had about 2,000. both cars are freaking quick. head to head... all the time. on the line, and on the line alone, the CLs wins. in a road race or where there are slaloms and curvvy roads, the ITR get it.
we haven't taken our cars together due to the weather so i haven't raced him EVER. only on the track. that'll change this spring. btw: the dude that totalled his black TypeS also has a 97TypeR which is a 14.1 second car. He's not letting that one go

My friend has a Type R with an AEM CAI, and springs. Mine is stock. With just me in the car I can take him EVERY TIME, and he knows how to drive too. With me and my girl in the car he took me everytime. These cars are very close. Once I get headers though I'll be EATING him alive, EVERYTIME!

Here is a video of a CL-S vs. Type-R from the Fall '00 Brookyln meet:
http://www.acura-cl.com/movies/race3.mpeg
Both of the cars were modded in some way... although I nobody has any specs on what exactly the CL-S had.
You can also view http://www.acura-cl.com/movies/alex.mpeg
To see the CL-S's engine bay with his intake and what not.
Also:

Are movies of the CL-S vs. TL and vs. stock CL-S
