Humming, Acura said to ignore

I searched this trough this forum already and didn't get an exact match to my problem. MY 03 Type S makes a loud humming sound for about 5 mins after I start it. It will do it while I am in park or driving, but only for about 5 mins after I start the car. I brought it to the dealership, where I have bumper to bumper coverage, and they told me it is JUST the power steering pump and they didn't do anything to fix it. They told me not to worry about it. Is it supposed to be this loud? Is it about to go?

So it does the humming constantly for 5 minutes or for a bit 5 minutes after turning the car on?
If you're talking about a quick, short hum that happens twice after you start rolling, it is the brake system automatically testing at certain low speeds. If you know what I mean here and it is making a different sound that is bugging you, just keep insist on getting this checked and/or fixed.

Yeah, I didn't think so since you had said that it did this in park. And when it does this, no AC components are on?

Do you have a cai?

Double check that the intake is connected to the airbox correctly and that all the vacuum lines are connected to the intake (the rubber part that goes from IM to the airbox)

It sounds like intake hum. Check the bottom of your air box, inside it. There's a rubber sleeve around the hole. That may be loose or missing. I know when I took it off the intake hummed really loud.
Also check your air filer is clean & not obstructed. And have you ever replaced your cabin air filters?

^That's what I thought too. I mentioned this in post #2. He did say that it made the sound in park as well. So it is not what we thought.

I think it's definitely something to do with airflow. Is your car high mileage? Mine has 103k and does the same thing, I have k&n intake and header and you can hear the hum from inside the house. Of course I think one of the piping connectors is cracked in my case so that probably makes the sound a bit louder than usual. The headers also sounds a bit strange on a cold startup, but I don't mind. It's not ABS because that is only when driving and that is more like a mechanical sound, like a didgeridoo or a sound Rahzel would make, if that helps at all?

Why shouldn't you since it is something that's bugging you. Let us know what they find out.

unplug your car battery for 2-3 hours, replug her back in, punch in the radio code, and navi code, then drive it like you stole it for 15 minutes, head back and shut her down. the next morning drive like you normally would and you will start to hear the noise go away. i had the same problem, sounds like a UFO under hood.
