<RANT on> I hate the passenger sideview mirror on my '01 CLS! At intersections, it hides cars coming at me from the right. Other than being unsafe, I feel ridiculous when I pull away from a stop and immediately have to hit the brakes because of a "hidden" car coming at me. That damn sideview makes me crazy! <Rant off>

I understand it was "right-sized" for '03.

 

what are you talking about? are you like 5 feet tall or something? Or maybe I dont understand what you are saying...but I couldnt imagine that mirror getting in the way unless your head is at the same height as the dash.

 

Same here Johnny. I'm 6 foot and between the wide A pillar and monster mirrors I'm constantly double checking before pulling out. Be careful out there.

 

I think the mirrors are a little large but don't affect my visibility. If you don't like them go and purchase the 02-03 side mirrors with the blue tint on the mirror.

 

i hate the 01 mirrors... way too big...
u can swap em out....

 

The 2001 CL had DUMBO EARS for mirrors.
The 2002-2003 ones are MUCH improved and they have a blue anti-glare tint too.

I swapped my 01's for the newer ones. it cost me like $350. They come painted from the factory, so you don't have to worry about that, and they are very easy to install. The install too 30 mins tops.

My main concern was the wind noise they generated, but I also didn't like how friggin large they were.

I like the swap out option, but I'd rather spend that $350 on getting my hood and front bumper re-painted.

I love the JUMBO DUMBO mirrors. Now, if I am on intersection, I have plenty of time, just lean forward a bit and check your 2 o'clock!
