How should "summer" rims and tires be stored for the winter?

I'm getting ready to say goodbye to the Superleggeras for the winter and was wondering what is the best way to store rims/tires in a garage over the winter?

I stored them in my shed stacked on top of each other with a old heavy blanket/tarp over them. I also leave the air in them.

now is the chance to inspect, clean and seal wheels / tires.
wheels: .inspect for wheel/valve stem damage. scrub clean all metal surfaces with heavy
duty detergent.
.scrub unfinished aluminum surfaces with stainless steel wool to remove all aluminum
oxidation, corrosion, embbed dirt, road tar etc.
.apply (3) coats of liquid glass polymer polish to all painted/unpainted metal surfaces

tires : .inflate to 80% max inflation as listed on tire sidewall and mark all tires as to location prior to
removal from vehicle
.clean all surfaces with heavy duty detergent including tread and inspect all surfaces for
damage imbedded objects, bulges, ply telegraphing , etc.
. coat all surfaces with rubber /vinyl restorer -(2) coats
. bag and stack horizontal in dry area

Here's what I do.......
I built a little shelf over the back door to my garage.
That way they're UP and out of the way.

Wont it create flat spots on the tires of stores like that? I always thought they should be stacked ontop of each other

Here's what I do........

Clean they very good.
Zaino the metal and treat the rubber.
Decrease air pressure to 15psi.
Put in trach bags
Stack horizontally on top of each other w/ cardboard in between.

I agree.

Get a couple 2x4 pieces of scrap lumber and put them on the garage floor. Then just stack the tires/wheels horizontally after cleaning and dressing with your favorite products. I keep the tires in plastic bags and set the pressure at 35-40 psi.

I read somewhere that it is not good to stack the tires on bare concrete and that they should be stored horizontally to prevent flat spotting. But the prime reason for storing them horizontally is to keep them from rolling out of the garage!!!

Yea, I hooked up an ancient Sony 110 watt per channel receiver I had lying around and a set of half decent speakers.
It’s running off a 5-CD changer I got at Best Buy for 49 bucks.
It sounds much better then I thought it would.

I also have a 27” TV out there too so I can watch a race or football game while doing the ZAINO thing.
