How to remove flip-down black plastic panel between rear seat & trunk

I am trying to figure out how to remove the black plastic flip-down panel that goes between the rear-seat armrest and the trunk (the part that has the lock on it). Is there a proper way to do it without breaking it? The reason I want to do this is because I am installing a custom subwoofer enclosure with acrylic pieces that I want to make visible through the rear seat. Can anyone help me for this??

you have to take the rear seat out and it is attached to the rear of the back seat, im guessing it has screws or bolts that hold it on. i know thats how it was on my first gen tl

So I have to take out the whole back seat to get to that panel??? Is there any other way of doing it? Is there any way to just remove the flip-down panel and not the whole black panel? Any suggestions or information about this??

Yes, I think you have to take out the back seat to remove just the flip down panel. Once the seat is out you can unattach the flip down panel and put everything else back in. This was done in my car and some carpeting is in the panel's place now to allow more bass from the forward-facing sub into the cabin. Can't give you detailed instructions though as I didn't perform the install.

I'll try to have some pics up by the end of week, spiroh. I just have to get my bro's digital camera first. It's a very simple install though, nothing fancy. Everything's just hidden from view.

to take the back seat out.... the two bottem pieces just lift up on the front and slide them out, then there are 4 10 mm(i think maybe 8mm) bolts that hold the glove box in place then that comes out .... and finally there are 4 10 mm bolts that hold the back part of the seat on 1 in each corner and 2 in the middle ( you will see them it may only be 1 in the middle ) and then you have to use some force but basically just push up on the seat cause there are things at the top that slide into the frame, and then its off , just becareful taking it out of the car cause it can scratch something if you go to fast ......

the door itself should just have a long pin through the bottem of it and jut slide that out and the door will be off

Hey guys, I ended up having a problem.... after pulling my seat cushion off...I realize that the black part of the clip came off with the other part of the clip on the seat bottom. So basically, what I see is a black plast clip that has a red clip type piece on either side. I tried taking this off of the seat but I just can't get it. I put pressure on both red part on each side hoping the black piece (that is suppose to stay on the frame but came off) would pull off. But it didn't...it is just too tough and I can't get it. Any suggestions on this??
