Go to www.kbb.com and look under used cars and you'll get a good idea.

you will have a better chance selling all your aftermarket parts.. and putting your factory parts back on. Then you might get 25k thats IF you are lucky.

The next question is, how much did you pay for it NEW if you think you should get 30K for it used?

A new CLS is only 29k, why would anyone pay $30k to get a used one.

Well, a dealer will give you around $22-$23k......so a private sale should bring around $24-$25k, taking off your aftermarket parts and selling them privately is a very good idea (that was stated above).

The unfortunate part is that interest rates are so good right now, used car sales are getting the shit kicked out them (overall).

I agree with putting the OEM parts back and selling for $25K.

Check out my signature for the price I got my car at...

Good luck!

Ok, not trying to make you feel bad at all. When I flat out sold my 01 TL to the dealer they gave me $22,800. I noticed they had shit load of CL/CLS on the lot and asked wazup.
Anyway he explained that they would have given me an even trade for my TL for a new 02 CLS. If my trade was a 01 CLS my trade value would have been close to $19K. I don't know why the CLS don't hold their value. Based on my experience, $25K would be pretty highly optimistic considering in the DC area you can get a brand spankin new CLS for invoice (I don't know what that is exactly but if my memory serves me right it's in the $25K ball park) Unless you can find a private buyer willing to pay that much I'd honestly have to say it's gonna be tough, but I certainly wish you the best in getting the most money possible.

I think this is one key reason NovaWhiteTypeS is still holding onto his CLS.

The CL-S is $22,400 in Galves with around 13k....thats dealer wholesale, they don't go by KBB or Edmunds. Now that the TL-S is out we know the CL-S isn't holding that stong- but 19k!!!!!

I'm just telling you what the used car manager told me. Considering that the 00 TL does hold value better than CLS I would think that $22,400 is a bit optimistic. Also you have to consider if the dealer has a boat load of CLS on the lot, they'll low ball the hell out of you on a trade cuz they don't need it. If they need a CLS, hell you may get $25K, who knows.

it really doesn't matter to the dealer how many of a particular car they have on the lot when considering a trade-in - the majority of trade-ins wind up at auction. what matters to the dealer is what they think they can get for a particular car at auction. if the car is a slow mover (like the cl seems to be) then the dealer will have to accept a lower price at auction to move the car. accordingly, they'll offer less on the trade-in.

You'll get no added value from a dealer for mods. If anything they'll deduct value because to them, you have "hot-rodded" or "raced/abused" your car.

Well, exactly.....look what the used car manager told you. The going rate for the car is what I said, they could bring the car to the auction and get in the $22k's. You are correct though, if someone wants to be a sucker and let's the dealer steal their car for $19k (so the dealer can retail the car on the lot for $23k-$24k thats their decision).

You said the dealer has a boat load of CL-S, my dealer has a boat load of TL-S also (they have 2 in the showroom).....its no excuse for giving you below wholesale on a perfectly nice car that fits the book description. There are plenty of dealers that want to do business, so if one gives you are hard time....on to the next.

Okay...I went to Kelley Blue Book...and my CL-S with Navi...37K...is worth 24K...so 24-25K for lower mileage but no Navi can be expected...but if you are in a hurry to sell it....24K is about what you should expect.
