Well, I think it's time for me to get a brake job done on the 2003 CL but I'm not sure how much it should cost (depending obviously on what I have done). The car has 60k miles on original brakes (mostly highway miles) and I am getting a squeal starting in the right front when lightly braking. I am assuming I will need to get new rotors for the front (w/pads) and possible have the rear breaks turned with new pads and parking break adjustment. Does anyone have any ball-park ranges or estimates for this kind of brake job? Is it best to go to the dealer or even a Honda dealer? Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

last time i did a brake job, i went with Rotora front ($175) and rear ($165) slotted rotors w/ Rotora pads ($60-75) from Excelerate and i've been happy with them. if you or a friend can't do the work, any shop could replace brakes. i'd also bleed the lines since this is your first brake job.

there's other rotor/pad options, depends on how much you're willing to spend.

Well, I got a quote from a local friend's shop...it would be $320 for the front (new rotors, pads, brake fluid, labor) and $130 for the rear (just new pads, brake bleed, parking break adjustment). Does that sound like a good deal? I really don't want to spend a lot for the reason that I may be trading the car in over the next 3-4 months...but it does need a brake job now and I guess you really can't put a price on safety - with braking that is. What do you think?

ever since changing my pads and rotors to DBA front and ebc rear with NAPA adaptive one pads F and R. I love them.

Accept it takes like 5 mins of driving b4 the brakes PINCH the rotors like they should cause everything need to heat up i guess.

Brake as hard as u want and no warpage at all.. i couldn't be happier.. unless my brake worked right when i jumped in the car... but lets face it... who needs to brake hard when the car is cold and it's in them morning... lol yea never

it depends on what rotors and pads they are. if they're $30 generic rotors and $20 generic pads, then i'd say it's not a good deal. if they're decent name brand rotors/pads, then it's not bad at all.

but since you said you may be trading in the car within the few months, i'd buy the cheaper parts

the parts are all genuine acura parts...I verified this with the guy

New is not needed.
Have the rotors cut(machined, turned) no need for new ones if your going to be getting rid of the car soon. Then get basic acura pads. No need for brake fluid, again your getting rid of it, no need to bleed either. Bleeding is only needed if the brake lines get opened & air gets into the lines. This doesn't happen in regular brake jobs.
Total should come around $250.

For reference my brakes are getting done Saturday. I have all new pads(performance) for $96. Cutting the 4 rotors I have is $99. Hour labor charge & I'm at $250.

yea if you are getting rid of the car... just make it get by... if you are keeping it then go all out.

I'd get the cheapest shyt out there and then sell the car b4 they warp.... if i were in ur predicament

Fuzzy, where did you get them done?? I now live in Miramar and work in Miami? Looking for a place that's not going to rip me off either...I'm probably gonna do exactly what you had done!

+2 with what Fuzzy said. If your gonna trade it that soon, just have 'em turned and replace the pads. 60K on those rotors they should have plenty of life left to turn them. GL!
