0-60 is a 1/2 second quicker according to Acura’s documentations.
I think most magazine tests have been in this range also.

It’s a HELL of a lot more fun to drive too. (I’ve owned both)

The 6 speed feels 500 lbs lighter and pulls a lot harder too.

Stock for stock. The 6 speed pulls better. But the auto seems to cruise better at high speeds. I had both also. The 6 speed is faster out right. Anyone who drives back to back will feel the difference.

Just out of curiosity, can an auto CL-S with I/H/E and SC keep even with the 6-spd given that the driver of that 6-spd is exceptionally skilled?

The SC makes that an unfair race. The Auto will KILL.

Yeah, the 6 speed stock feels overall lighter and faster than my auto with all the goodies. That is, until you get high in the RPMS when even the 6 speed seems to run out of breath compared to the cars with headers.

I think that all but the fastest modified autos would lose to a stock 6 speed in the 1/4 mile.

Now a 6 speed with CT intake/headers is way faster than an auto. I know this for a fact cause I had an CLS auto.

Look at it this way, the 6-Speed has about 20 WHP more with the same setup, weighs about 60 - 70 lbs less and has more aggressive gearing. So the obvious answer is that the 6-Speed should be noticeably quicker.

However, an automatic is easier to launch so a botched launched in the 6-Speed would put it behind. In other words, a terrible stick driver would run slower times than even a mediocre driver in an automatic.

I run 14.4 to 14.5 second quarter with a modded CLS auto with headers, intake and pullies and exhaust.
Those are warm weather numbers, as in the cold this fall I'm running 14.2 to 14.3.
Either way I equal or better most 6 speeds which are stock.
If I had the S/C on my car the stock 6 speed has no chance nor does a 6 speed with the bolt-ons less the S/C.

It looks EXACTLY the same as a 03' auto. Except the autos have a better cupholder cover. Oh yes its true.

I witnessed Rondog with i/h/e race lou on the highway off a 50 mph roll and they couldnt shake each other, until lou, with sways, sprngs and shocks got ricey(balsy) and started taking turns at 120 plus. This is where rondog backed down. Pretty even though.

Those are the average times I've run since the beginning of this year to now.
I've spent way too much time at the track I guess.

with my stock CLS I raced against Sidemarker several times from a stop. At the time he had CT I/H/E/Sways/Springs on an Auto. Needless to say once 3rd gear hit I pulled on him even with a botched launch on my part since I had just only had the car a few weeks then. But that's not the fact all around. I know many 5ATs have run phenomenal times with just headers hitting around the low 14 sec. range.

i can't break 14.7 w/ intake and headers... stock tires are balding tho, and i don't have exhaust and pulleys

I remember test driving the 6-spd ... and after being just... amazed at the difference during the test drive (w/ the salesman in the pass. seat, and my buddy in the back seat) .. my buddy and I got into my car and it felt like the biggest dog.

1st, 2nd and 3rd zip by sooo much faster (seemingly) in the 6-spd. I think feeling more "interactive" (i.e. w/ the shifting) in the 6-spd makes it seem faster as well. Track times speak more truth than anything anyone can say on this board, and frankly I've seen some 14.5's, 14.6's and 15.0's from 6-speeders on this board. Granted, perhaps they weren't as skilled as the pro's, but those are their realistic times, and you can't argue w/ those. I've BEEN to the track w/ sonor kid, and JohntypeS and seen those guys run 14.4's to 14.6's modded. John just ran a 14.20 ... they are all autos.

Don't care what things look like on paper, track times prove all.

It's true. My CL-S feels tons faster than my gf's 03 Maxima. However, she's as of right now only 2 tenths slower. I think 14.5-14.6 is a respectable time from a stock 6 speed. What does a bone stock auto run? 14.8ish? I have pulled low 2.2 60's very consistently, but it only pulls 91-92mpm compared to the CL-S which pulls 95-97mph.

The reason that ET's arent as drastically different is in my opinion because:

A. The auto is a 5 speed. Alot of performance cars with auto's are still only 4 speed, so the gearing potential is not as good as a 5 speed.

B. The 6 speed has to shift into 4th just before the traps. 3rd gear runs out at like 90mph, so you are having to shift maybe a hundred feet before the traps. This is the one of the no-no's of setting up a drag car. You want to basically be at redline when you cross the traps, not having to shift just before the end.

C. It's almost always easier to launch an auto, especially with fwd. You cant just dump the clutch in the 6 speed. The tires are too narrow and the suspension is not setup to take a shock like that. It'll spin & hop like crazy. So the only choice seemed to me was to bog it and floor it. The key is to get the 60's in the low 2.2's, which will net mid 14's. The torque converter in the auto probably doesnt lock up till what? 1800 rpm? That means you can break tq and be under load when you launch, unlike the 6 speed which has to baby it out of the hole.

Just my thoughts.

i agree, the 6spd might seem alot faster when you are driving it but its actually only a few tenths quicker IF you know how to drive, if i remember correctly i've seen modded 6 speeds(i/h) run the 1/8th in the 10's, thats just horrible
