How long to install springs?
How long to install springs?
Hey, just ordered the comptech springs from Dean! How long should it take a mechanic to install? Can this be done at home? I am reasonably good with tools and can get a compresser.

If you can get a hold of a compressor, I def think you should do it yourself. I did mine in about 3 hours. It's not hard, just time consuming. If you have the time do it, it's a good experience and it gives you the satisfaction of knowing that you did it yourself. Goodluck.
its a pain in the ass without a lift and a wall mounted spring compressor...installation should be about 100-150 at a shop and its worth it to have it done, you have to take out the entire back seat and of your car to get at the rear springs, you need to take out the seat cushions, middle console, and seat back..total pain in the ass....and you have to line up the shock within the spring to align with the "boot" on your suspension on the car, its time consuming and a pain in the ass, i got lucky and had a mechanic freind do it for 100 but id easily have paid 200 after seeing how much of a pain in the ass it was
mechanic should be able to do it in a couple of hours. when i have paid for installation it's been $100. if you have a strut/spring compressor and some mech. skillz you should be able to do the job in a few hours.
Not hard at all. If first time doing it, give yourself a Saturday. Get spring compressors from Harbor Freight for like $10.
But if you think taking the back seat out is a pain, then I wouldn't bother with doing the springs yourself

its really not that hard... if you got a compressor go for it.
jim, who told you taking out the back seats was a PITA?! fawking things pull right out minus a bolt or two.
regardless... a shop with the appropriate tools should be able to do this job in 2 hours.
