How To Install CAI on a 6 Speed

Well since there is no write up for this, i figured id contribute how i did it.

Steps

1) Remove front drivers side tire. -- Not needed, but makes it easier.
2) Remove bumper. 2 bolts by tires (up top), and 2 below. Couple plastic clips up front, 3 bolts by engine. Again, not needed, but makes it easier.
3) Remove wheel well plastic lining using a flathead screw driver to remove plastic retainers.
4) Remove all the bolts associated with the stock air filter box, 2 bolts below engine, 2 or 3 in engine bay. Remove res box (thing below) from the box above, held together by a rubber seal. Remove stock air box from the rubber accordian tube.
5) Remove the 6 inch cross bar down in engine bay by the hole where the stock air box went into. You'll see it when you try to install the CAI, wont fit without removing this.
6) Cut the CAI right above the second air hose hole, thus removing both holes from the CAI. [check link in my sig for pic of this]
7) Install the supplied AEM rubber boot onto that end of the CAI, use the 2.75" bracket.
8) Work that end of the CAI into the accordian tube, a little less than half the rubber boot should be exposed.
9) I bolted the CAI without the supplied rubber washer, instead i used the stock bolt. The CAI didnt move as much this way. Be fore warned that the instructions say this will void the warranty of the cai for some reason.
10) Install the filter with the other 2.75" bracket.
11) Put fender well back on.
12) Bumber back on.
13) Tire back on.
14) Lower car.
15) If you havent already, unplug battery for 30 mins. Not needed, but helps something.

See the link in my sig for additional pics. Hope this helps. Took 2 hours with about 2 smoke breaks.

I really don’t understand WHY people remove the front bumper to install a CAI.
It’s not necessary as you can easily get that back resonator bolt through the wheel well by pulling back the inner liner on the fender.

i mentioned that removing the bumper was optional. I only did it because i was installing new bulbs too. Plus putting on the filter was easier.
