how fast/quick with new upcomming six speed?

im guessing very high 5's to sixty and 100 mph in quarter, but the 90 to 130 mph should really be smoking!

The zero-60 is totally dependent upon the tires they choose to put on the car. Can you imagine dropping the clutch at 4000 rpm with the stock Michelins? Can you say sit and spin? They even put those shitty tires on the RSX type S and are already getting flamed for it by the mags.

Now, if they put some sticky 225s on the car that's a whole different story. I would say mid 5's since some people are already at 6 seconds stock. Probably the biggest difference in the quarter mile would come from the time gained from 0-60 since the car accelerates really well in 2nd and third.
If the reported time for the 1/4 is 15.o I bet we could see some very low 14's with a good launch and with all the mods, who knows--we might have ouselves one really fast car.

Assuming "normal" weather condiditions in the mid 70's I would guess a STOCK 6spd CL-S would run b/w 14.2 to 14.5 in the 1/4 mile.

Hell... Mike is hitting low 14's with the auto. I see some high 13s in our future. Well, maybe not my future...

If the 6-spd box is geared like the RSX/NSX, it'll pull hard all the way up to the 147 spd. limit. I don't see why it couldn't pull a very high 13 .. say 13.8 or 13.9 1/4 mile run w/ I/H/E/Plugs/235 tires ... Just look at the difference that a manual has made for other cars in the industry --> Maxima .. case and point --> 8.1 second to 6.3 seconds to 60 ... um.. Integra (GS-R) .. world of difference. Granted, these were going from dinky 4spds to 5-spds.. but it's very evident that the Type S will benefit from a stronger ability to launch. Plus, power at the wheels will be increased .. what is it.. only 18% of loss at the wheels w/ a manual vs. a 23% estimated for an auto??

Having more gears lets you space them closer together. Just imagine if you had 1000 gears (or a CVT). You could keep the revs in VTEC through the whole speed range. For an example of too few gears, think of the power drop for 3rd to 4th in our car. Extra gears also allows for better economy. Since there's more gears to play with, they can have low gears for good acceleration but still have a couple of tall ones for economy at high speed.

Biggest benefit is better highway fuel economy. The top gear will be an overdrive gear. If you're in 6th gear, you'll probably need to shift down a gear (or maybe two) to get any real acceleration from 60 MPH. So it will suck as a power gear at normal highway speeds. But in addition to excellent fuel economy, you'll also get the benefit of a nice, quiet engine at highway speeds, due to the fact that the engine will be revving very low to maintain 60 MPH.

Another benefit is that the engineers will be able to choose tighter ratios between gears, which will keep the car in its "sweet spot" longer. Also, this will also allow the engineers to choose a "better" final drive ratio that is more compatible with the tranny ratios. In theory, you can end up with better acceleration AND a higher top speed.
