Alpine Ships New 2002 Line
High-end auto sound maker introduces V12 digital amps, Type-R speakers, and Type-S subs.
April 23, 2002 - Alpine Electronics of America announced today that it has begun shipping its new 2002 line of V12 AccuClass-D power amps, Type-R speakers and Type-R and Type-S subwoofers to authorized retailers.
Alpine's newest amps, speakers and subwoofers were designed from the ground up to meet the needs of car audio enthusiasts looking for greater power handling and control and optimal sound clarity from their car audio system.
Alpine's New True Digital V12 AccuClass-D Amps:
Alpine's MRD-M300 and MRD-M500 digital amps are the industry's first to feature a complete digital architecture inside the chassis from input to power amplification stage. Utilizing a custom DSP front end and a highly accurate digital amplifier stage, Alpine's new V12 AccuClass-D amps provide users with premium sound tuning and the sort of amplifier control that only complete digital technology can deliver. With the optional RUX-4280 (SRI $100) Remote Amplifier Control Center (RACC), users can link up to eight mono amps and synchronize set-up and sound control through one display and controller. With the RACC system, users also can name each amp, for easy identification in trouble shooting situations. The MRD-M300 and MRD-M500 retail for approximately $360 and $550, respectively.
Type-R Speakers and Subwoofers:
All of Alpine's 2002 Type-R speakers and subwoofers feature stylish, unified cosmetics and major engineering innovations for ultra-clear, ultra-loud performance with pounding bass. Subwoofer users will enjoy increased power handling, reduced distortion, improved thermal management (with an airflow-optimized dual flare pole vent and integrated heat transfer plate), greater durability and increased SPL. Alpine's 2002 line of Type-R speakers retail for approximately $200 - $280. Type-R subwoofers retail for approximately $200 - $400.
Type-S Subwoofers:
Alpine's new Type-S subwoofers combine premium sound, thumping bass and affordability into a package that offers users the ability to handle 600 watts of peak power with ease. All Type-S subs are built with tough Kevlar reinforced cones, extra thick steel baskets, double-stacked magnets, high-excursion surrounds and woven tinsel leads for increased reliability, as well as a built-in heatsink, a larger flare vent and a redesigned motor structure for greater power handling and increased SPL. Single 4 ohm and dual 4 ohm versions are available and retail for approximately $135 to $200.
"Alpine's newest digital bass amps, Type-R speakers and subwoofers and Type-S subwoofers were designed specifically to satisfy the needs of today's power-users without sacrificing sound clarity," said Stephen Witt, Alpine's vice president of Brand Marketing.

if u don't believe me, spend the minute or two and see for yerself (i already froze Fast & the Stupid on the speakers and double checked)

here:
i had the type-s's before... and i would say that those subs are... alright. i mean considering i got 2 of them for $200, i guess i shouldn't have expected much anyway. they hit, yes, but clarity and accuracy? hmm... not really. they were a good temp solution until i got some real subs, which are the audiobahn alum12x that i'm gonna have installed soon. i only got them because the match was too hard to resist
i have 2 10" type s subs.. i got them for $60 a peice so all i gotta say is i got a steal. haha, they definitly can be pumped and can take a beating. sound quality is good when it's midranged bass, when it gets deeper, it gets a lil distorted. definitly worth it if you can get them for cheap. make sure you get a diesel amp. something at least 200RMS per sub.
