Removing the 6x9's is pretty simple.

1) Remove the (2) screws from the speaker grill. These can be found under the rear deck, so you have to get into the trunk to get at them.

2) Slide the grill cover forward and lift up to remove.

3) Remove the (4) screws that hold the speaker. You'll need a 5/16" wrench for the rear two because of the slope of the glass. You can use a 5/16" socket wrench for the front two, though.

4) Disconnect the speaker wire connector, and lift the speaker out of position.

I've done this a couple of times, trying to fit other speakers in. Watch the magnet size if you're replacing the 6x9's. Honda didn't give us much room to play with. I also strongly suggest getting the Helm manual if you want to do anything to the car, or just want to know how it's put together, and what the service guys are looking at. It's worth it.

You can get it here...

Kix,

Thanks a lot. What speakers do you recommend for the fronts? So far I am looking into getting the OZ Audio cs-180 components. But now I think I might go with something else. I need a component set that is free air. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Spiro

I wish I could tell you about a good set of components, but I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to that. I hear MBQUARTs are great, and I've heard them in a friend's car. They do sound good. They're a little pricey for my budget. I just ordered a set of Infinity Kappa 6.02cs. I hope these do the trick. I've heard Infinitys before, and they also sound good.

I think it really depends on your budget and your ear. You have to listen to the speakers with whatever music you listen to. Asking people in the forum will help, but you will get widely varying responses about the same speakers.

I hope this helps ...

sigs21,

Did you have to do any modifications to fit the MBQUARTs, or did they fit easily in the stock location?

they need a mounting on a wood or fiber board of about .5" so the window will go down .. they are deeper then the factory.. the highs are drop in.. I had mine reoriented to face better then factory.. then you need to seal that with silicon and put a foam cone on the speakers so they don't get wet in a big rain.. If you don't find a speaker that will fit in the factory housing you will get water in your car bad thing...
