How to access gauge cluster?

How do I get at the instrument cluster above the steering wheel? Specifically, I want to remove the plastic cover over the gauges so I can give it a good wash in warm soapy water. I find that cleaning it with a cloth tends to swirl/scratch it, and I'd like to give it a thorough cleaning...

So, I can see the two screws in the underside of the housing, but the whole section must be held in place by more than just those two screws. I searched around the forums but couldn't find anything specific to the 2nd Gen CL. Anyone have directions/pictures on how this is done?

I personally would like to know myself since I havent gotten around to trying to replace the bulbs in it yet. I havent been able to find an online service manual that would tell us either. Have you taken the 2 screws out from above the gauges? Just wondering since I have to get it apart regardless of if anyone can shed any light on the subject. Somebody, help us out.

Randall,

Good find. Looks like I've got a little project for this evening.

I don't think a wash in soapy water is going to rid you of scratches and swirls you should try a plastic polish and then only use clean microfiber to clean in the future.

The swirls I have right now aren't too extreme, but I'm concerned about continuing to clean it and would rather give it a good wash to get rid of the existing dust that's collected on it. I have used a clean microfiber towel each time, but it still swirls the plastic even with very little pressure. I'd like to find some kind of cleaning agent/polish for the plastic with good anti-static properties to prevent the dust from collecting in the first place.

Yeah, I saw that one when I searched on here prior to posting. It's sort of helpful, but pertains to the 1st Gen and not 2nd. There are some significant differences.
