Pulling motor

I have a few questions for your swap guys. Does the type-s 6 speed come out of the top? All the procedures I’ve found so far involve dropping the motor out the bottom. Also can you unbolt the AC compressor without opening the system? Its new clutch time. :cool

I pulled mine out from the top. It's going to tkae some muscle and a prybar or 2 to do it. One major hang up is the oil filter housing and the air conditioner lines. Besides that it's fairly easy.

Definately unbolt the AC, unless your planning on cutting the hoses as they don't stretch too far.

we do it by the bottom at the dealership, but once tried it by the top. it can be done (radiator out, leaving compressor in and no need to open a/c lines).

only detail you are saying.....new clutch time ? are you pulling the engine only to replace the clutch ???

Taking it out the top is very easy if you can rent a engine hoist. I Just yanked it out on my TL that way

If you are removing the motor, trans, etc. It may be easier to drop it out the bottom if you have a way to lift the car up over it.
