If you do buy from him, I can say that he is a really nice guy and responds to questions really fast. I've been asking him about some things and he always responds really quickly with thorough answers.

Its going to be "inperceptible" unless you put a gauge on it. This is NOT something your going to notice driving the car. It's not going to feel smother, better, faster....

Or...you could put one on, take a spin, put your hand on it: does it feel hot ? Yep, then your cooling the fluid.

From there you'll just have to trust that it is a fact that cooler fluid is better on a transmission over time than Superheated Fluid.

It aint Rocket Science Guys

personally i'd stick w/ hayden or B&M, they are good names in the business and why buy something that's not up to par just to save 20$

I would disagree. I've got the B&M 70264 (24,000 GVW) tranny cooler. I installed at around 40k miles. Did a flush of the system at the same time. My shifts are more crisp and consistent - even after hot runs. The transmission is more stable and I no longer feel differences in shifting when the transmission is hot. I'm expecting the true test durring the summer when temps get over 100 degrees F.

The cooler may not be need at all..
The CLS uses the engine coolant to cool/warm the ATF.

Maybe no one mentioned this... but racing the CLS while engine coolant is still COLD is a mistake. The tranny will shift harder when the ATF is not warmed up. It may, actually, contribute to the failure of the tranny.. However, Acura has never acknowedged this fact.

Stock tranny cooler does not pull off enough temp. Ever ask yourself why stock fluid goes dark - almost black? It's from excess heat cooking the fluid.

Your fear of fluid being too cold is not realistic. I agree that racing before your motor gets up to temp is a mistake. If you do, you get what you deserve. The B&M cooler has a self regulating orfice to regulate flow as needed. Comptech chose the 70255 as an independent solution for transmission cooling fully bypassing the stock radiator. I chose to put my cooler in series with the stock system for warranty issues.

Also think about this: When you set your car up to tow, you add a tranny cooler. Why? It's because you're putting an additional load on your drivetrain. If you drive aggressively, you're also putting an additional load on your drivetrain. Also, the difference between crank HP and wheel HP is HP loss (ENERGY). Where do you think that energy goes? It's transferred to the transmission fluid in the form of heat.

Think what you want but I've got real world experience on the benefits of the cooler. It's really not that complicated. Like Caddy said - it's not rocket science.

From my experience in Houston weather

No cooler: ATF got cooked, much darker than engine oil after ~5K miles.

with cooler: ATF still is pink after 12K+ mile.

Make your call.

Allout,

Like u said u installed ur aftermarket cooler in series with ur stock cooler because of warranty issues. Would Acura really void the trannies if an aftermarket cooler were installed?

Is there more of a benifit if two afterarket coolers are installed in series than just simply only the aftermarket cooler, speaking in terms of taking out the factory one all together.

What do they mean when they talk about a remote filte. Are they stating that B&M has a seperate remote filter assembly that can be added to their tranny coolers?

FYI,
We do not have a dedicated tranny cooler. We have a tranny warmer that Acura hopes the warmer would use HOT coolant to cool ATF

My Acura Service Writer said that he would not void the warranty if I supplemented the stock cooler by adding the B&M. He would have a tough time keeping the warranty intact if I bypassed the stock cooler even if the independent cooler had a greater capacity - but he could not comment on how other dealerships would handle.

No benefit to going with two coolers. If you want additional cooling, depending on your environment and driving style, just get the bigger cooler. The 24,000GVW cooler I'm using is way overkill but what the heck.

If I was not concerned with the warranty, I would probably just use the B&M cooler independently like the Comptech design. The cooler independently has enough capacity to take good care of the tranny. Additionally, you would give more free cooling capacity to your engine by pulling that heat load off of the radiator.

You can add a tranny filter inline if you want but I'm not sure how much benefit. Not sure either way.

SilverKnight - I agree. My fluid is still as bright pink as new. Temps here haven't reached over 100 but I'm confident that the tranny won't see it with the cooler.

Allout,
I installed the cooler at the beginning of Texas summer last year. Now, the fluid looks much better than newer fluild on a 02 CL-S (turning black, not even brown). I think yours will do just fine.

nashua, a cooler is pretty much a must if you want these tranny's to last.

The B&M SuperCooler #70264 is their larger unit that's rated for 24,000 GVW. It provides more cooling than you'll ever need.

Can't seem to fid the specs on the one that Nashau meantions:

http://www.v6accord.com/forums/show...&threadid=19479.

Is the B&M Supercooler #70264 cheaper than $150. That seems like someone is price gouging the cooler.
