That happened to me. I just drilled the head off of the screw. Obviously you just need to be careful not to damage the rotor or anything.

Did mine yesterday. I didn't have an impact screwdriver so I gripped the handle of a Craftsman screwdriver with a large pair of vise grip pliers, leanded into it and they popped.

I have that one. It's real handy. It's a bit arkward to use but gets the job done. I haven't used it on the rotors but other things I have.

Had the same prob a year ago. Had an impact driver but bit shattered on last screw and parts were stuck in slots. Could not use taps cause of the bits stuck in slots. Luckily neighbor was handy with drill and chisseled out notches that we then used a flat head and a hammer on. That one damn POS screw cost me 1hour when it took me 1 hour to change pads and lines on 3 corners and 1 rotor on one side. Does anyone know why those screws are there? Other cars I've worked on brakes didn't have those.

I have not done this myself yet, but read somewhere, to reinstall the lugnuts and torque them a bit and the screws will back right out easily.

I started the isntall and faced the same problem. Even with the use of the imapct screw driver the scews are stuck. I risked stripping the head of the screws so I Aborted the installation and put back the pads and caliper. I used this penatrating liquid and it did not help on the screws...

Why in the world Acura has those scews on the rotors, other cars like nissan they have no screws!

To my amazing the front pads have some 33 kmiles and are only 40-50% worn. I may be able to drive to 100kmiles with those pads.

There was a lot of rust everywhere and the virtually no grease what so ever!....

Recommendation if you have squeaking brakes and you did not replace the pads for a long time, remove the pads and apply a new coat of grease and re-install.

Now, I may either sell the new rotors and pads or pay some $120 and let a Pro tech at the dealer do it for me...

The screws are there to hold the rotor on when its on the assembly line, otherwise they serve no purpose and you can toss them after you remove them

All you have to do is tighten the lug nuts down on the rotors to relieve the tension and those screws will almost turn by hand.

Today, my CLS is at the local honda dealer for the rotors/pads installation: cost is $120 at 4hrs @ $30/hr for an employee cost.

Man... that is a lot, my Trusted Tech said he does the job in less than 2hrs for actual time!

I have done several brake jobs on my own cars, but not my Hondas. I hate those damn screws. I feel the same way about the wheel holding the rotor in place. I have tried to use one of the impact screw drivers with little success.

When you go to put the screws back in... or if you buy new flat head screws.. PUT ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND on the threads and screw them in... you will NEVER HAVE a hard time again..

Thank you so much for the tip, I tightened three lugs down, and those damn screws came off pretty easily.

I needed a pipe to bust loose the caliper bolts too. Damn.

It's way way way better/easier than my old '95 Accord...

I had a hell of a time replacing the rotors on my '98 CL. I took it to a buddy of mine who races Chevy's. All he did was take a propane torch to the bolts for about 15 secs and they popped off.
