Hot '98 Volvo C70 photoshoot (PICS)

Met up with my friend Kai today who has the T04B C70. Mighty impressive car! Aside from the awesome exhaust note and bling wheels, it's putting over 300hp to the ground. And boy does it feel good when the boost rushes in to push you back in the seat.

Side shot:

Angle:

HIDs:

Interior:

You won't find that head unit on the market in the USA.

One more exterior:

The trunk without flash (natural color):

Panels fit over the two openings, concealing everything just right. Quite a well-made setup!

The trunk with flash (better view):

Great work on the C70, Kai! I still can't believe you put all that engine work into a Volvo! After being in that car I have to say I found new respect for Volvos.

I'm sure he will post his engine mod list soon.

Rondog:

It's actually just a Canon S300 2.1mpixel. The beauty is in the tripod which keeps the shots pretty sharp when I'm not using a flash.

When the pics are full size (1600x1200) you can really see the need for a higher mpixel camera, but when I resize to 800x600 and use one sharpen filter in PaintShopPro, they work out okay.

I got it because I wanted something pocket-sized that would work well for traveling, but still something with a lot of features. It's definitely great if that's your style of camera. If you don't mind a bigger, bulkier camera, get one of those 3 or 4 mpixel ones with the big lens, I'm sure they take much sharper pics, but if you want compact you can't beat the S300. It also looks so silly to have such a tiny camera on top of my bigass, super-adjustable tripod, but it works well.

It's almost 3am, time for some sleep.

Yes it is too bad but Volvo will be unleashing a c50 soon. Rumors have it a retractable hardtop may be avaliable for it. And I think Volvo will have c30 or c40(Don't remember which name). Similar to the c50 but smaller.

I think I remember right from this month's Motor Trend: It'll be a C60, based on the S60 platform with increased power and yes, the retractable hardtop. Sounds to me like it'll definitely be worth a look...

Hehe...thanks again guys. It's nice to get compliments from fellow Volvo fans, but it's something else from you guys. Really appreciate the kind words.

LoL...your system is definitely out there~!! I know you probably also stop counting....but I'd say you probably spent at least 15K+ to have that kinda sysetm done like that if you didn't do everything urself. I gotta give it up to you...very nicely done.

Did I say it already...you got some kick ass system!!

LoL...suree..Eric, you were too kind. I know you weren't really even trying. Man, when you punched it..and I saw the tail kinda kicked out with all that torque...I was like.."Nah..maybe I shouldn't even try..."

I guess I was just at the right gear, right speed and with good amount of boost at that time...so, kinda go lucky. My car was not even tuned at that time, I am pretty sure you could of made it look pretty ugly....hehee...all I'll be seeing is the disappearing 4 taillights of yours.

After AAM tune the car today with at 110 octane I'm running now, I might have a chance to keep up now.

Speaking of AAM, does anyone know whose CL-S is it that AAM did the NOS kit on. Some mad power there...close to 285 FWHP~!

I know A kid from montclair NJ that just sold his hooked up C70, and looked just like that and he also had 300 HP .
Did the owner of that Volvo just buy it used?

WOW. Whoever it was already had headers, intake, etc, because you can see he was dyno'ing 225ish.

Uhm JZ, you got something you want to tell us?

j/k, probably not JZ. Dunno who that is though.

I thought I was the only CLS driver to know AAM people.

Looking at the dyno, the plot looks really weird. The ups and downs throughout the rpm range are just plain ODD and the max numbers seem weird too.

Yeah..that guy...with that 'interesting' set of chrome wheels. NO, he's not running 300 hp at all. I can pretty much bet my car on that.

From the stuff he had..and the knowledge and the vibe I got from the guy....all I can tell you is...any one of the CL-S with headers and intake will definitely spank him left and right.

He's more talk than anything...I'll just leave it there. Don't want to bash him like that...after all he is also a fellow C70 owner.

You have to realize a lot of them don't have a clue...and they are using 18~15% loss of HP from tranny to do their power estimating....they will be getting 240 FWHP and they will think they are going over 300 hp mark.

Man..only if HP is that easy to obtain, I could of just put few cheesy bolt-ons and claim I have 400 hp.

Don't be surprised if this guy hasn't even taken his car on a dyno machine.

Hopefully this post of mine doesn't sound too offensive...simply making a point. :P I go KABOOM like that when people start to use these false claims.

It probably has more torque...the T5s do have some decent torque, that's why it FELT pretty fast. But no...line them up, and you will find out. After riding in JRock's CLS, I have faith in you guys.

I would...but I just invested a little more than I planned on the Volvo...kinda hard to just 'trade' it.

I was looking to get the TL-S few months back, but....changed my mind and got something else that can haul more people around.
