I hope she didn't have any passenger since the damage looks pretty bad everywhere except the driver seat.

I heard something about passenger being ejected out the rear window but is okay. That might just be NOVAwhiteTypeS embellishment though.

Poor Honey.

My thought exactly. I hope the passenger (if one existed ) is ok. The passenger seat is all bent to shit!

HoneyCL, check in and let us know you're doing well.

Glad to hear she is OK.

Look at how the console lids are flipped up, rear view mirror gone, visors flipped Must have been traveling at highway speed. It is nice to know the CL can hold up. Not nice to see.

Looks pretty rough...the CL got it's ass kicked, but did it's job protecting the occupants. I bet she'd be able to sell of the wheels and tires, and maybe the navigation system.

Good luck to her.

Good thing the pole hit behind her, and not right into her driver's door.

Her BF flew out the rear window but he's okay and yes she was going at high speeds and the car hydro planned. I know she had high miles over 35k w/ stock tires which didn't help.

All in all she's okay and so is her bf

Lets link this info to the “Do you wear your seatbelt” thread and see what the “non-wearers” have to say now.

I guess they don't mind a trip out the REAR of the car.

Yep.

It's hard to tell what exactly happened just from the pictures. However, there have been cases where a front seat occupant is thrown from the vehicle in a rear impact collision while wearing a seatbelt due to seatback failure and/or collapse.

I'm relieved that everyone is okay. As someone already mentioned, it is comforting to see that our cars' safety equipment does work.

Glad to hear you guys are both ok. Did her boyfriend fly out of the back window from the front passenger seat? That would have been some scary shit. Gives you a good idea of the kind of forces that go on during an accident like that.

old school or not she should learn to slow down...accidents happen but a good driver always tries to minimize the chances.

Update..warning, long story.

Awww, i haven't been on the forum for a while now but i'm glad to see that i haven't been forgotten. Hmmm, ok...where to begin. Me and my bf are fine. No one else was involved. We were going up to Jersey and it was raining. I saw the puddle of water and didnt slow down in time. My car hydroplanned and skidded across 3 lanes, spun out, hit a light pole, then the brick retaining wall behind that. Light pole was completely knocked down. Ambulance came and took us to the hospital. They admitted me for precautions since most of the damage was on my side. It's true my bf didnt wear his seatbelt...and the impact threw him to the back halfway out the rear window. He was the reason the rear windshield shattered. He was very lucky, only had a scratch on his arm because he got back into the car after he hit the windshield. Besides that, we both have stiff necks and i had a lil bump on the side of my head. Uhhh, after about 2 hrs at the hospital...we took a bus and still went to AC to gamble. We were feeling kinda lucky, kekeke. The ambulance people said that we should've have been dead and that we were very lucky that we didnt get injured. The size of the car probably saved our lives since everything happened in the rear.

Now about the car...yes, it looks like the passenger seat gave and collapsed. I'm not sure if it was the impact or the fact that he wasn't wearing a seat belt. He's pretty tall so the seat was reclined. Only my side airbag went off since the front was untouched. Both doors were jammed, my bf had to kick out his door to get out. I dont know what happened to my spoiler...it disappeared. The insurance adjuster went to look at my car today at the impound lot and verified that it was a total loss. I still dont know how much i'm getting for it. I had put new tires on about a month ago. Car had over 43K. Car was paid off so i'm hoping that i'll get 18-20k for it. I'm looking to get a VW passat now. I need something slower with less power. I'm done with Acura's. That car has been nothing but bad luck....now it's finally gone!

Yung...

Thanks for replying. Glad you two are okay and sorry to hear you're going German on us. You know the CLP offers the same size and protection of the CLS but it's a little less powerful!

Glad to hear your OK!!!!
And I don't think your car was BAD LUCK!!!
If it was, you wouldn't be around to post anymore!!!!!
It shows how well built the car is and how much damage the car took and you and your BF basically walked away!!!!! Good luck with whatever car you get next!!!!

Aztec,

I'm convinced my car was bad luck. A month before the accident, a tow truck driver backed into my car in a parking lot and ripped out the road lamp and cracked my bumper. 3 outta 4 rims were scratched. I've had the rearview mirror replaced, the side mirror replaced. Everytime i went to get my car serviced, the memory seat and mirror wouldn't work. Got my first speeding ticket in that car. First *hopefully my last* major accident in that car. Navigation would freeze up. I've never been totally satisfied with that car. For paying 33K, my drivers side mirror should not be shaking when the music is on loud. Frickin dealer told me that they looked at two other CL's and it was the same...drivers side mirror would shake, the other wouldn't. What kinda crap are they trying to tell me?...the manufacturers make the car so one mirror shakes??? They're such dorks at the dealer. OH and lets not forget the minor lil fender benders on the rear bumper and the rear side passenger panel.

Yes yes, i know what you guys are going to say...it's not the car, it's the driver. hehehe. But i'm 25 and had a clean record up until this car. I need to start over with a new car. I loved my CL but i'll be happier without it.

Don't act so concern CLTypeR, you know a thing or two about crashing ppl's car. First you talk about her behind her back then act concern - your so fake.

But I'm glad HoneyCL is alright. I've had a couple of experiences with hydroplaning, it's scary, especially with rear wheel drive on my car.

Quit your bickering.

I only met you once Yung, but glad you are ok. Hydroplaning sucks, but one must rememebr not to panic when it does occur.

Your car can be fixed or replaced, but be lucky that you are fine!

Ive hydroplaned much too... cept in an open parking lot and sliding into cones :p
