I did it recently for my sister because she couldnt get her's working either on her CLS..

Anyways..the directions are in your manual..basically hold the outter two buttons to clear, then hold the button your want to program and hit the controller button at the same time...after holding it for a while and it blinks solid i think, it is done.

Some garage doors that have anticode grabbing devices require you to push a red button before it will work...if there is a red button push it, climb down and into your car and hit the button you just programmed...it should be working.

I hooked it up the same day I bought the car (almost a year ago). Its very easy and there are step by step instruction in our manuals. All you need to have is your "genie" (garage opener).

Mine was also easy to set up. Just follow the instructions in the manual. It is harder if your opener has the "rolling code" feature, but there are instructions for that as well.

Mine was simple too - if you hit a snag, go to http://www.homelink.com . Mine works great with my rolling code genie... just remember to program the door opener for your homelink.

I did this earlier this week. I followed the manual and it worked out fine. You need to make sure you keep your eye on the red light to make sure it blinks rapidly before letting go of the button. It's awesome not to have to carry another remote.

Quick question. Do you guys have to hold the button long to get your garage door to open or is more like a simple push? I have to hold it for about 3 secs beofre the door starts to open.

I've noticed it depends on the distance you are away from the garage and what direction your car is to it... I usually do have to hold it down for about that long..

One thing I wished they had was lights on them so you could at least with a glance see which one you are using.. I've hit the wrong one so many times..

I have all 3 of my buttons programed, two for two seperate garages, and the other for a gate..

Both the garages programmed in like 2 seconds.. the gate was a little harder, took about 2 seconds longer to take the code..
but all have been working great..

I have to hold the button even if I'm sitting in the garage under the remote receiver

What he said, I had to do the rolling code bit which included hitting a button on the actual garage opener motor.

Because 15 posts are TL;DR for me, I don't know if this has been mentioned but...

When I got my CL-S (01) about two or three months back I tried to program it and it failed repeatedly. This is on a non-rolling code system though.

I had to reset the HomeLink by holding the Left and Rightmost buttons (Buttons "1" and "3"), the light should do something (very descriptive, I know) after about 30 seconds. I then synced the fob to the first button following the instructions in the owners manual.

On another note, I have to hold the button for 2-3 seconds and I get about 25 - 30ft of range or so.

Works great for me. No need to carry a normal remote to open the gate or garage door at home.
