I think they had to go to the 3.5L V6 to do it but you're right. It should be awesome. I had a 98 Max SE with 5SPD and not much could touch it.
But what about the Altima SE with that engine in it??

I saw the I35 at the Auto Show... real impressive.
The face lift looks real nice... and the interior is first class.
Nice big chrome rims.
The power should really make that car a contender. Beatin on TL-S's

yes, and the I35 is NOT getting a 5spd auto, it's keeping the same 4 it had, as well as the automatic maximas.
the 5spd manual, is well, a manual and wouldn't be installed in the infiniti...this has no correlation to a 5spd auto.
and the 5spd auto on the q45 is a differnet tranny for a different engine/drive configuration (ie rwd) and wouldn't work in a q45.

I have found some info on the I35 at www.nissannews.com and it will be a 4 speed auto.

And I seriously doubt that the upcoming Z would share the exact engine block as the I35. I'd expect a generation of VQ-based engines along the lines of the F20/K20.

i meant i35.
i'm not trying to negate your thinking, but the i35 is NOT getting a 5spd auto.
http://www.edmunds.com/news/autoshow...5/page014.html
they don't have a car out with a v6 and 5spd auto...so they dont' have one to use yet.

i don't remember where i read it, but the didn't the dude at the auto show announce that they're killing off the i30 (acutally i35 as the i30 is dead soon anyway)?
i'm guessing this is the last iteration of the car.
