Holy hell! $350 for a tint job!!!
OK, I few days ago I posted about Huper Optik tint. Supposedly, it's supposed to be da' shizzz nit.
OK, so I found a dealer and asked for a quote. $350 to do a 35% ATWO job.
Holy crap. This stuff must have 24K gold flakes in it.

My brother has it on his G35...the dealer he bought from puts it on all their cars...too bad he had to take his car back there twice to have it redone so there would be no bubbles or wrinkles.
I wouldn't recommend sinking that cash for that tint. Sure, it looks nice and may block out sun a little better then others, but that doesn't warrant the price difference.
On my Integra, I paid about $250 for a tint job (2 door)....and was satisfied. On my CLS now, I paid $170 and am even more pleased with the results! And the tint I got for my CLS was a step below the stuff I had when I had my GSR.
As long as there is the lifetime guarantee, and the tint has the look you want, just find a shop that does good work and you'll be pleased. That was how I felt in my experience.

Well, this shit is supposed to be the bomb. From their response on what makes this stuff so good...
------
Ok to answers some of your concerns......
1. Typical Standard 35% film is a dye base film which will fade i.e. have you ever seen cars will purple film that will happen to that type of film, Huper Optiks is a cermic film that will NOT change colors.
2. Standard films have a 3 year warranty, Huper Optiks has a lifetime warranty.
3. Solar heat rejection for standard is 30% , Huper Optiks is 61%
4. Ultra Violet rejection for standard is 95%, Huper Optiks is 99%
It's supposed to keep heat out like no other film due to its manufactuing process. That's VERY attractive to me as my car sits outside all day. But $350 for the job!!!! Shit.
I dunno... I gotta sleep on it. I know I can get a Llumar or 3M job for half that. But it'll fade with time, and Huper Optik won't.

By the way Llumar tint which is proably the most popular has lifetime warranty (every joe blow tint shop uses this stuff). So if you aren't being quoted lifetime warranty for the cheapest tint job then you are not getting a good deal.
I'm getting my TL-S tinted this Saturday with Formula One for $185. To find a Formula One tint shop go to their website. http://www.formulaone.com since they don't let joe blow tint shop carry their stuff. This is the best stuff in the market.
If you live in the Orlando area check out where I'm getting it done. Flying Window Tinting in Longwood on 17-92. (there are a few other businesses in the area with the same name....THEY ARE NOT THE SAME BUSINESS....ONLY GO TO THE ONE IN LONGWOOD).

3M will not fade, and also carries a lifetime warranty
But the price is probably higher anywhere right now cause its summer time.
Tinting costs usually come down starting in the fall in most places.

the stuff he is talking about is the newest technology in tint. ceramic based blocks heat better than metal. any metal or ceramic tint will not fade. my 35% metal based tint costed $200 and has a lifetime warranty.

Damn, all of you all need to find some hook-ups, I pay $90 and I have a TL-S and got all windows including front strip the size of 12 1/2 inches down and the sunroof piece, and it's 6% black tint with lifetime warranty.

I second the choice of Formula One tint. I have Formula One "Ultimate" tint, which is their highest quality tint. It carries a lifetime manufacturer's warranty, will not fade, and has a standard charcoal style darkening.
For 38% Formula One Ultimate Tint, the specs are:
Ultimate 38% Tint:
UV Protection: 99%
Heat Rejection: 48%
Glare Reduction: 58%
If you want to high heat rejection, you can go with their Premier tint which is reflective.
Their 35% Premier tint specs:
Premier 35% Tint:
UV Protection: 99%
Heat Rejection: 52%
Glare Reduction: 58%
It also won't fade and carries a lifetime warranty.
From what I've been told though, Formula One is just a spin-off of Llumar. Its the same tint, just branded under a different name.
Anyways, I'm 100% happy with my Formula One tint, it definitely makes a big difference in how hot the car gets in the summer.
BTW- I paid $260 for everything from LA Tint.

i got a hook up through a friend and got formula1 35% tint for a cool 140. the tint is the best. it's slightly mirrored, only at certain angles, but when it's clean, it looks sick.

You can find out more information about Llumar tint from www.llumar.com or call 1-800-2-LLUMAR ..
As for the metallic tint and NAVI, I have both and I have no problems what-so-ever with interference. No problems with radio reception either ...
The NAVI antenna is in the trunk, so I don't see why the metallic tint would affect the GPS signal anymore than the metal trunk.

ok,, i dont know about the Heat rejection and UV rejection %, but 350 for a tint job is just TOOOOOO much...
in LA area, even $175 is too much for tint... the ones that will fade and change color is Charcole tint which is really cheap but Titinum tint would cost like 20 bux more and It has LIfe Time warrenty not just 3 years...if the color changes or fades, the shops are supposed to replace it with new ones.
i had titinum tint on my cl for 3 years, and there was nothing wrong with it... my friend has it on his e36 m3 for about 5-6 years already and the color is still the same....
you can tint ur car and ur G/F's car for $350
