Hit the tracks 2nite with new mods and BLAH...
Since my last runs 14.21 @ 97.64 MPH and 14.32 @ 96.94 MPH I have installed cooling mods with water wetter, 3.5L programmed unichip, SSR comp 17x8s with bald Nitto 245/45/17 DRs, and have removed my VSA unit and installed required resistors. On the street, the car seemed much peppier and I had quite a bit more traction than before. Launched it and ran through the gears with no problems.
Tonight for the first time, I decided to do a long burnout through 1st and 2nd, staged and brake torqued my launch. Traction was pretty good, had slight wheel hop, but let off it for a split second, then hit it again and it didn't slip after that. Car didn't seem as quick as usual and it also spuddered twice at about 5000 something RPMs like it was hitting the rev limiter or VSA kicking in, then picked up again after that. Anyways, I only hit 14.34 @ 99.59 MPH.
Any ideas what the hell may have happened??? Trans going bye bye???

did you bend an axle? with that much traction and power it could have happened...
have you even dynop'd it since your swap? you could be having serious AFR problems, or some other thing might not be working right causignt hese problems.

Never dyno'd it yet. That's coming any day now. Ordered the AEM wideband a/f so that should be nice to monitor for personal use.

go check your oil level my 3.5 had alot of blow by so much so i would add a quart every 2 mos ,and the symptom you describe was my indicator it was time for oil...oil pressure/level is what engages the hi profile cam in the vtec system

Alright, oil was fine, but there definitely is something wrong with my drive train. Took it out on a smoothly paved surface and heard/felt bad wobbling. Kinda like a slight metal grinding/wobbling sound. Maybe I did bend my axle and that bang was not wheel hop.
Mo power mo problems...

Three Wheelin'
99mph trap means your definitely capable of 13's.
My car always feels slower at the track and never pull off good times until the end of the night. What was the air temp?

if it does turn out to be your axles, then I would definitely look into custom stronger axles, either that or learn how to replace the axles yourself and always have a spare set of axles

Conditions were 76 deg with 91% humidity. We've been raining for 40 something days straight which caused the higher than normal humidity. Normally we're at 70-80. If it is the axle, I'll def. look into stronger ones. Any idea how much parts and labor would be for replacing the stock ones?

Ok, so cause of bog/no vtec has been diagnosed as low oil, checked it half assedly the first time. "Thanks typeR". Now hopefully the SSRs were just not balanced properly and the stockies will fix the bad wobble.

you're not going to 'bend' axles with your current mods. you really dont need to worry about that.
what viscosity oil are you running?
what heat range plugs are you using?
make sure the shop didnt install CL-P plugs, since every auto parts in the world says both the P and S use the same plugs.

Oil: Amsoil 5w-30 or 10w-40, I forget.
Plugs: Denso Iridium IK20.

if you can get 93 octane easily, i would try running 1 range colder on the plugs and see what happens.
edit: what elevation are you at over there? you should be seeing a high 13 easily, but vtec is HIGHLY reliant on oil pressure. i would drain it and fill it up with new oil.
