Hit and Run Dilema

So Thursday, last period of the day, one of my friends walks up to me and says someone hit your car and took off. I was like WTF? Then he says it wasn't that bad (which it wasn't). Then he tells me he got their plates plus make/model of the car. So after school I go to my car and check it out. The damage wasn't terrible, but the paint got a little messed up, looks like a screw hit it, plus another spot a little further away was slightly dimpled. Because shit like this pisses the fuck out of me, I call the cops and have them do an accident report and give them all the info I had gotten from my friends. They told me to come pick up the report on monday. I wanted to make them buy me a whole new bumper just cause they couldn't even leave a fucking note on my car. Well, I go get the report today and it turns out the person who hit my car is a friend of my familys. There was no damage to here car and denies hitting me, but she admits to parking there that day. Now I'm kind of faced with a dilema. Do I try and pursue it maybe just make them repaint the bumper or forget about it as its not terrible(but still bugs me) and wait to redo both bumpers at the same time(need a new front bumper)?

Make her pay, you've got witnesses. SInce she's a friend try to have her make mends outside of insurance/legal issues. If she doesn't budge, fuck it.

Sounds like you are both in HS, I bet her father will take care of it for you.

hey mclaren... seeing as you got witnesses, there's nothing really she can say. she was responsible, atleast you're giving her the courtesy of settling it out of insurance. if she's gonna give u b.s., it is definitely your right to recover monies to fix the damage she caused. if she's your parents' friend, have your parents talk to her. if she still is being an assclown, have an attorney draft a letter of intent for a lawsuit. then maybe she'll get serious.

No, not yet. Unfortunately timing sucks. I had finals this week and I'm going away for a month this Saturday so I haven't had any time to do anythng. I took some pics of the damage. http://community.webshots.com/album/153311997HhRGGj Like I said before, nothing major, its more the principle of not leaving a note. I'll see what happens, maybe my parents can talk to her while I'm away or I'll do it when I get back.

yea just report to insurance...maybe it was so light she didn't feel the bump. That happened to my cousin, and the cops went to her house saying she was involved in a hit and run..someone wrote down ur plates...so if she doesnt' want to fix it...then F her and just report it...
