High School Drivers are Excellent, Riight!

Hey guys,

I'm going to my high school and I arrive and park in our assigned parking spots. I have a 2003 Acura Cl-S with 1,350 miles and I am obsessed with keeping the car clean and I maintain it with great care. I hate the stupid chips on the front of my car. Anyways, I arrive home and my mother walks in and she says to me, "Did you get in an accident, dont be afraid to tell me. I said, "huh, what are you talking about. She brings me outside, and on my left bumper I have a huge Scratch for about 10 inches and about 2 inch were cut very deep, so that the plastic was showing. I was so angry. So, today I drive to school park in my spot and walk into school. The person who hit me, which i dont know yet, doesnt tell me that she hit my car. At the end of the day, I knew there was no way I was going to pay to get this repaired. I look at the front bumper in the 1996 Mustang Gt next to me and what do you know. I see a white paint with a scratch underneath and I knew it was the Mustang who hit me. That means this person pulled into her parking space, while my car was parked and I was in school. She hit me driving into her space! How ridicolous is that. So anyhow I wait for this person who tried to get away with hitting my car. She comes to her car and so I say to her, I know you hit my car. She says "Yea I did, I'm sorry, I will pay for it. I said you bet you will. Well anyhow I brought it to the shop today. He is taking off my bumper sanding down the paper, filling it in perfectly, (not much filling required), putting on a clearcoat and repainting the entire bumper for $200. I thought that was a pretty good deal, but I am not sure. Not like I care though since she is paying for it. High school drivers suck, and they do not know what they are doing! Oh by the way, I have a small chip on my glass, not really deep enough to put my fingernail in. Suggest any products to help reduce the appearance of the small scratch?

Thats sucks man...

But uhh, aren't you inadvertantly ripping on yourself too?

personally, I'd ask for a new bumper cover.

I agree with you completely. I'm anal about my car and I'm in HS too. Well last year when it was only 4 months or so my friend in HS rearended me going like 4 mph. There was a scartch near my rear license plate frame, but i still made him pay. 250 i think so 200 is a good deal. Tommorw my first day of school and i already have dings from last year, this year i am gonna spend 5 mins each day perfecting my door ding resistant parking.

I agree with you on that. In the first 2 weeks at my school, only 350 kids in high school, there has been 5 accidents. What a pity.

I'm just as worried when I park my car @ school. I JUST got a new 2003 last week and just started parking at school. I find it difficult to leave my car alone in the lot! I hated coming back to it to find another car parked next to me within a foot of mine!

My school has a similar spot system, we have to apply each semester and usually have to share a spot part of the week with another person, unless your a senior. Hey, at least I have a better chance of figuring out who hit me, in the case it unfortuantly might happen.

i hate insurance companies they are like legal robbers in my opinion. okay my dad has full coverage on a 2002 Tundra 4x4 SR5 v-8(which guessing would be in the mid 20's if it was totalled) his insurance rate is less than my full coverage 94 Honda Accord(which guessing would be worth 5000 bucks(cause it has 200 grand on it) if it's totalled . I have no points(knock on wood). but even if i had 30+ grand laying around I wouldn't get my CL now cause the Insurance company will pork me.
my mom's friend(which she's a safe driver cause i've rode with her a couple times) she wanted to lease (i forget what kind of car it was) just cause she was single and she wanted to lease it was going to double her insurance payments so she bought the car.

then I had a friend with a WICKED stereo system(it was worth like 1500 bucks(headunit, subs, little speakers, amp)(that was new price) anyhow he put it in called the insurance company and said look I put in a custom stereo in my car can will you cover it if anything happens to it. they said "yeah no problem." about a week later some robber cleans out his car . so he expects this check for 1500 bucks and he calls them up when he gets this check for like 200 or 300 bucks for stock crap. and they he wasn't insured on a custom stereo. he said look i told the one lady. he was going to take them to court but it's there word against his.

Well, I don't know. Sounds to me like someone doesn't understand the insurance business. It's still the same....it hasn't changed over the past few years since someone is now looking to get in....

I worked my ass off for my 2002 CLS, and I rewarded myself in September of 2001, my senior year in high school. I put down 11 grand, and have 15 thousand left to pay. I have 350 a month for payments, but usually i put 400 down or so, so ill it paid off quicker than 5 years.

If one can truly work hard at it, it can happen. Then theres the rich parents that dont teach their kids a lesson.

Key word is said...trust not what an insurance agent has to say, but by what is written down . I read in Car Audio Mag, in order for you to have your aftermarket system insured...it has be shown to the insurance agents and apraised for value. Thus that means you have to pay more in premium for it. But if you got a cool insurance, they'll pay it no big deal...but how often does that happen

Man... that is a bitch!!! Sorry to see it.

I remember those SJSU parking lots as being some of the worst I'm glad I had my 93 Accord then and it wasn't as big a deal. At least I learned some aggressive parking lot maneuvering techniques while I was there ... say that scratch didn't occur by stealing another’s spot, did it

I usually come to school early...around 7am for 9am classes to get a good parking. I also normally (which is pretty much always) park in 4th street parking garage. I try to only park at the spots where they have those emergency fire hoses in between because that gives quite a bit of space so I can "hug" that side more closer and get away from cars on the other side...you probably know what I'm talking about. Ghetto thing is this happened in the summer time where there is usually no one at school!
