HID projector fogs
Looking to install a new fog light setup for my CLs. Thinking about purchasing lexus is300 9006 fog projectors, I also thinking of using a fog hid setup and wanted to see if anyone had input of the best way to install them. I saw a couple of outdated DIY without pics. If anyone has a DIY with pics that would be great. I might want to use a tl switch if I can get my hands on one for cheap, but I dont have to. I have a spare 1996 civic fog light switch, will this work?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Takes a lot of cutting and test fitting. Not a nightmare though. I have 03-05 Accord coupe fogs also. I don't have pics of the whole install, just the finished product.

Yeah I was going to install the accord fogs but I didn't want to deal with the glare the hid might cause. I bought a pair of Lexus is300 fog which I going to try to retrofit to work. I might run HIDs but I might just keep the regular bulb. Will try to post pics when I finish, but that will be at the end of the month when I have time to work on it.

My camera has messed up hue. It made the 3000k look more green then it really is.

I wouldnt run HIDs in the fog lights. They are low to the ground, and if the ground is wet, the glare from a bright HID bulb is going to be insane.

Hm.. I'm running HID's on my fogs and I never noticed a glare. I have noticed people who run 4300k (or above) on their fogs do glare when the road is wet but mine are yellow... My buddy and I swapped cars once and I didn't notice anything when he was driving behind me (in my car, it was raining) but its supposed to rain tomorrow, I'll have to test it out now cuz I'm curious.

Anyone have ideas of how to wire the my fogs up. They are just standard (non HIDs) 9006 bulbs. I was thinking of tapping the power from my parking lights cause I want them to come on with the first click of light switch. Will I get enough power? The bulbs say 12v which I assume be enough. Also can I ground to another ground wire?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

^ I have that pic in my laptop. Yeah ls430 is widest single beam projector. I was gonna do ls 430, but i did't. Because of size... I'm happpy w/ my AP1. and i'm currently running Micre DE w/3k hid for fog. I love them!!! I compared IS fogs,Blazer fogs and Micro DEs beam pattern output. Micro Des own them. Widest and evenly spread beam pattern. And i really don't notice any glare like changbanger mentioned.

HID's are not meant to be ran in reflector housings. No different than the ricers who are out there blinding people with their smurf lights. HID's belong in projectors ONLY. A company name Morimoto makes a small micro set of projectors called "Matchbox's" and would make an excellent candidate for your application.

Actually you mean HID's don't belong in cars that do not have them as orignal equipment, remember the CL headlights use reflectors for the HID's but yeah all the dudes putting HID's in regular halogen based housings should be shot because they blind the shit out of people.

When asked afterwards, the seller said that the HID retrofit bulb was made to project like a halogen's light pattern. But when I insisted that this quick HID retrofit was blinding the opposing traffic, he then mentioned to install a projector system to cure the ill.
But by then, I've blown away $170 for the initial HID kit & have to spend another $200 to get the projection system. It was never mentioned that a HID kit in a halogen based headlight system would blind the oncoming traffic in their website. Nor, did he say anything when I gave him my halogen bulb number to ask for an equivalent HID retrofit. This, to me, is unscrupulous business practice.
Rather than buying the projection system and spend more with these guys, I just have my headlamps re-aimed by my mechanic.

Do you have to do a lot of cutting on the metal frame & the bumper for this installation?
I'm still debating if I want to go w/ 03-05 Accord fog lights or HID projector system for the fog light cavity.
