sylvanias are usually my 1st choice, they always give me a nice pure white beam, much brighter than a regular halogen. but i remember them being on the expensive side. but their quality.

i put silverstars on my beater civic. bought a set on ebay for like 22 or 23 shipped and I LOVE them. They're probably 3 times brighter than my old stock halogens and they're much cleaner white too.

PIAA's are the biggest waste of money for high beams. Bought a pair off ebay, they were actually dimmer than the stock bulbs. Luckily the guy was very honest and helpful and exhanged for some other stuff. There's no way you'll be able to get anything that looks close the low beam HIDs w/o actually buying a HID conversion kit (thats what I did). I haven't installed them yet, but tested them out and were I know silverstars are very nice, but not too sure you'll be able to notice much difference right next to our low beams color wise. Buy some from walmart, try them, if you don't like, return them.

I've never had any problem with PIAA bulbs. I have the DOT approved extream whites in my high beams on the CLS, & are my primary lights on my Explorer. The Explorer's have lasted over a year & that's with the wig wag flasher setup I have running here & there. Have a set in my moms Altima that have been going 2+ years.
The DOT approved bulbs are not going to be blue. The eurolite's & the the blue bulbs for cheap you see on Ebay are not DOT approved. I've used eurolite's H3 bulbs in fog lights & they weren't bad. They didn't last a year though.
