HID HIgh beam Question...

Hi.. AZ Peple!!

I'm really curious that how to change Xenon HID high beam from

just a regular high light bulb.

If i change just a high beam bulb, is that be HID high beam?

or have to change other things in it??

Thanks

Im not sure if i understand you correctly or not but the high beam is not a HID light and you cant just plug a HID bulb in and have it be HID. You have to have a ballast for the high which our cars dont come stock with. hope that helps.

you might think about just replacing the high beam bulbs with Sylvania Silverstone bulbs...they approximate HID look and only cost about 30.00 for a set of 2

There is no such thing as an HID high-beam bulb. Reason? Safety...

The amount of time to ignite the Hg/Xe gas inside the bulb is not short enough to produce a on-off effect of traditional lamps... Plus, in doing so, it would destroy a ballast. The only similuted HID high-beam bulb is the single use of an HID that uses actuated motors to reflect the beam in different directions... common on Audi, BMW, MB, etc. This is called bi-xenon technology.

is it possilble to use/install one of these actuators in our cars or do you need a completely new casing and ballast?

This is a complete custom job. You can buy X5 projectors and retrofit them into the housing. These projectors have built-in actuators. Very common mod among the VW community.

i hate all these companies these days that claim their lights are the "closest to HID available" Switching to X5 lights would be nice but i am sure this is quite an expensive mod for something that i'm not all that concerned about. i was just wondering if it was an easy conversion to bi-xenon, thanks niteqwill (love your rims bro)
