since i work in Research for an investment bank, i take the stance of it's less of an expense for Acura to use like parts, such as the speedo's, dash, shift knobs, etc. for multiple types of cars, therefore one can conclude that Acura has not been outperforming in the automobile market sales wise...if u take the current Acura line, u have the RSX, TL, CL, NSX, and MDX...since the TL and CL share many characteristics, it's almost like they're producing 1 less automobile in their lineup (within reason)...more characteristics between cars means less expenses to produce parts, therefore u cut down on what $$ goes out of the company, while at the same time, try to maximize what $$ comes into the company...plus, u cater to a wider audience by offering a 2-door and 4-door model with similar interior specs.
