If everyone had their DOM (Date of Manufacture) in their signature. It would help two ways.

1)You could use this info to decide if you may be supcepatble to a particular issue. i.e. actuator function. Look at the DOM of the complaintants, and determine if your car was part of the same run.

2)A search could be performed using a keyword (i.e. rattle) and the DOM. This too could help members determine if it may be something that applies to them.

Better than Date is VIN. On the S2000 newsgroup everyone has the last 4 digits of their VIN in their sig(we would have to use 5 due to volume). Helps others identify when they got the car/when it was built.

I think we need to have a format though. When searching, it would be helpful to know that everyone who adds their DOM to their sig has it in the format of mm/yyyy. If some did mm/yyyy and some mm/yy, then it would be hard to get accurate results from a search. Follow me?

Humm What a great idea. It would be cool to put it with the post count.

Maybe we could somehow get a digital uplinking device for our cars that would update our profiles/ODM readings every day. Maybe even better then that, have it uplink fuel usage per mile, ODM reading of course, and other vital info (like the cadillacs do!
