Exclamation Help!! Wierd Engine Noise

Iv been hearing this noise for about 2 months now and its only getting worse. The first time i pointed it out dealer said its normal but now its a lot louder and more frequent. Its a rumbling noise coming from the enigne when it is ideling in park or drive or even when its in a high gear and the RPM drops below 1.5k and the car is just crusing without pushing the gas. I looked everywhere but i did not find anything... it sounds like its coming from the pullys because it gets quicker as the RPM goes up but then stops past like 1.5k RPM. I found out today how to stop the noise for like 20 seconds but it starts up again. I took the dipstick out( the one that measures the engine oil) and it gave off back pressure like it made a psssst noise when i took it out and the noise was gone... I put the dipstick back in and in about like 20 seconds the noise started again... Everytime i take the stick out it stops and i checked for engine oil but everything is fine... Please help im freaking out!!!!

Man! I don't know what that is but it sounds like shit! I hope you get the help you need? From the looks of your sig, I'm guessing you're out of warranty. Personaly, unless you have to, I wouldn't drive it until you get that figured out.

I'd call Acura. Maybe tell them you're afraid to drive it and possibly get them to tow it from your house.

yea but the noise stops when i take out the dipstick... it releases air pressure and the noise stops right away... once i put the dipstick back in... pressure builds up again i guess and in 15 seconds it starts again...

That's weird. I can't tell what the hell the sound is off. If you still have warranty, take a drive on in to the dealer and have them take a look at it.

i talked to the dealer and he said keep in mind that u have modified you car (headers intake) and this can void ur car warranty and thats why it might be doing the noise...

According to your sig, none of your mods should void your warranty. If they try to tell you they did, make them prove it.

Man that is the biggest BS that a dealer will give u, just so they dont have to honor the warranty. Do not take that shit from them, no headers or intake or exhaust should void any warranty. They're bolt-ons, how the hell can that affect anything that might be internal.

Yeah go to another dealer. Sounds like the one your at is not mod friendly. While they do have to prove it, they also don't have to. It's a fine line. Most of the time it's pure BS, but the dealer can refuse to work on it, or keep giving you the run around till you give up on it.
It's easier to just try another dealer.

yea this is another dealer because the previous one stole an ipod from me and was ganna charge me $760 for an alternator mount when the peice cost $12 and with labor $200... So i went to valley stream acura and they did it for $200.... but i also told them to check for the rumbling/ticking noise and they said keep in mind you have engine modifications so if its an engine problem the warranty might not cover it....I told them that i have the papers to prove that this noise was there before all the modifications were done because i complained about it since august but now its more frequent and louder. Anyway all i want to know is WTF it is... its the wierdest shit iv ever heard and everyone who iv shown it to has no idea especialy when i show them that i can stop the noise by pulling out the dipstick and they hear it release air pressure like a blow off valve and the noise stops until 10sec after i put the dipstick back in.... this led me to think that maby my air/fule ratio is uneaven or something and there is something wrong with my ECU??? I have no idea

What possessed you to pull out the dipstick while the car was running anyways?

because the noise was comming from there lol i dono how the hell i managed to think of that but i did it and it stoped the noise so now i came up with a new conclusion... i dont think the pistons are sealed right and air is gettin passed which means that if it is that its ganna be one pricy job because they have to take the engine appart or give me a new one.... i wonder how they are going to link the headers and intake to this one...

does anyone think it might be the pistons though...cuz if it is that ganna be one hell of a job to fix... but whats wierd is that it only does the noise when the engine is at normal temperature and low rpm like when its just crusing at like 1k rpm or ideling
and its not that loud like if your at a busy intersection or some one is talking you cant hear it...

holy shyt i got it!!! the people who installed my intake (it was for free other wise i would ev done it myself) pinched the tube that lets air out...the one next to the oxygen sensor... as a result air was building up pressure in the engine causing that noise... i redid the hoses including the sensor and air one and now its fine.... thank god cuz it scared the shit out of me i thought there was something wrong with the engine
