Today my speedometer stopped working, it said I was driving at 0 MPH and then it would jump to around 40 and get stuck there

any ideas what this could be? All the other gauges work fine.....could it be a fuse?

 

If you speedometer is broken, better get it fixed quick.

Last speedo I had broken, my car got certified which means there was no way to tell how many miles it had on it when I sold it. Not good.

 

I see you have reverse indiglo gauges ,is it possible the overlay has come loose a bit and is interfering with the operation of the needle ?
Is the check engine lite on? If it is the speed sensor in the gear box i s dead or on it's way out.If not the speedo could just simply have failed .

Jens, it doesn't look like the overlay has come loose...last night when i left work it worked fine, go figure
the check engine light is not on either...I actually have an appointment to bring it in to see you on Monday so I will see you then
