-I don't want to discourage my friend from entering the CL family. You guys are great too. But I don't want him living with the automatic transmission bull shit that i and a lot of us are going through. He doesn't wan ta manual.

-I think he's set on the car. Can you all tell me if it's at least a good deal?

Thanks yall. Haha, and apologies if I made this sound more serious than it really is.

I'm currently talking to him right now. He's not budging. Should I break his fingers so he can't call the person that's selling? and if so, what should I suggest to him.

if he wants it, it does have 80K mi. worth of tranny warranty on it. he does know that's not a cl-s, right?

His requirements are nothing over 30,000 miles, and has to be under and around the 20K price. So yes, he does realize it's not a CL-S. He doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

Good luck with the trannys tennis =/ (I personally feel I will survive, but it's just a pain).

He found an 02 accord coupe fully laoded with 15K miles for $20K. Would that be better?

-One more thing, tennis, where do you find your deal? I kinda think $20K for a CL-P's alil' high =/

I think $20k for a CL-P with 80k miles on it is pretty silly. I would probably never get a CL-P anyway. The CL sort of needs the -S to be a real CL

found it off of recycler.com. that is the place to go, esp if you want those new accords.

in fact, as i was looking, found a beautifully modded (19s, exhausts, coilovers, etc.) 03 accord w/ 22k mi for 18,9 too. but went with the CL, 29k, type s, my preferred color - listed 18,5 - bought 17,4.

just take a look.

and honestly, i'd still take the cl anyday. even with a 5 to 2 sudden downshift .

-And my friend will get the CL. He can't find any good CL-S's he says and will probably get that dark grey CL-P. He likes the feel of it. I am of course a proponent of... "if a car can make you feel that much better, it can't be bad". who said that? i have no idea. probably someone not very practical.

He is really gonna wish he didnt get a CLP once he starts driving it. I would really advise against it and tell him to wait for a CLS

blader- while I do agree with you that a CL-S is worth the wait, he isn't going to know the difference unless he has driven both vehicles....

I think that price is too much considering what more you can get with the Type S, which are more numerous too. Not gonna comment on the automatic but I love my 6 speed.
So no I wouldn't buy it, esp for that price, but I'm not him. just depends on what he wants to get really. Good color choice tho :P

If I remember correctly the accord has the exact same tranny as the CL, but someone will correct me if I am wrong.

You can find a CLS for the same price and a few more miles. They are around, just be patient. If you break your friends fingers he will have plenty of time to recover and look for a car.

I somehow doubt that. I love my CL-p and I've had it for 3.5 trouble-free years. Still waiting on the tranny issue and I know it's a possibility ANY day, but I have no regrets on which car I bought. Given the choice today, I would opt for the CL-S but it doesn't exist anymore, so it's not really an issue.

Let him buy it if he's really into it. He's (presumably) a big boy who can decide if 225 hp is enough for his life - and if a potential tranny problem is a deal breaker or not.

Final answer. He ended up buying it anyway. I told him that if the tranny issues show up, he better damn well get a TL or TSX as a loaner.

-Also, he said he has the 100,000 mile warranty, but it's for 4 years, and not 7 years. Why? Because certain 2003's are like that apparently says Acura. I said to him: "what the crap?"

If you're talking about the tranny warranty it is not 4 years, it's like 8 or 10, I don't know.
