Both lights are on the same amount of time. Both lights have the same life rating. Usually when one goes, the other soon follows. Also, some people drive around with one light for a while without knowing. When the second light goes is when they notice.

Whenever I change head lights, I usually change them in pairs.

its happened to me aftermarket bulbs, ill go out to my car and turn on the lights, and you hear a click..and both of them go out, could be a surge of power going through and melting the little metal thingys inside the bulb...or it could be a short, but most of the time, like allout said, when one goes, the other will soon follow
