HELP!!! OBX Header Exhaust Leak

I just had an OBX Header installed on a 02 TL-S today. The install went shitty from the first minute. Installer had to bore out most of the bolt holes, the O2 sensor hole is too close to the transmission, and worst yet the rear header didn't fit right and now I have a horrible sounding exhaust leak. I thought OBX fixed the fitment issue. I ordered the headers from SS Auto Chrome. This f*$%ing sucks!! I wouldn't have got headers at all if I'd known about all these damn problems. Why does it seem that I purchased the shittiest set of headers OBX has ever made?
Is there anyway to fix this? Has anyone ever returned a product to OBX? Hell I'm already out of the install money because the stock headers are going back on Monday. This is straight up bullshit!!

Lots of people have complained about the bolt hole problem. Hopefully you can get it rectified.

I remember ShawnS posting a while back asking how fucking hard is it for OBX to get the mounting holes correct. I can't believe that haven't figured it out yet.

Anyone one with any suggestions how I can fix it? Has anyone else with OBX headers had the rear header w/gasket still not give a good seal?

I think people aren't using the OBX gaskets because they suck so much and were re-using the stock gaskets???

It's weird because I heard the resonance sound everyone talked about (hell you can't mistake that noise) but it was only a couple of times. The exhaust leak noise you can hear while it idles. Maybe I'll let another shop look at it on Monday. It just sucks to get hyped about something and then shit doesn't work out right!

installer's fault big time, he probably put obx sign header in the front, it goes in the back. Perfect fit for me. Resonance sound sounds mean asssss hell from stock exhaust, when u drive by.

Resonance sound is like someone else put it "blowing across the end of a bottle". The exhaust leak is sort of a ticking sound..sounds like an old truck with a rusty muffler. No it doesn't go away when the car warms up.

Nash. did you have issues with yours? Going from your car to mine was pretty easy, only one hole needed a bit of filing (a very little bit). The resonance sound is there but I have thread dedicated to that frustration.

I'm suprised that the OBX were that bad but since mine were used when I bought them I can't say too much about original fitment issues. If it is a leak then you should be p!ssed if it is the headers fault and not the installers.

Andy,

The OBX headers I had ( now on your CLS) fit like a glove. espically the holes were 100% aligned. I had the resonance sound with the OBX and it used to go away when the car warms up.

As you know, the 1st Stone Headers I have on my CLS needed a lot filing to get it on... But no resonance sound.

i have a question on my headers, i get this like exhaust rumble sound, i think it might be a exhaust leak but when the car warms up it goes away, is this the exhaust leak?, and also, when the car is warm and im driving with the windows all rolled up, and when i gas it i here this little whistle sound like the sound of a turbo makes when sucking up air, any of you guys get this sound? to those who had obx, when you start yoru car is its suppose to be a raspy sound, and then goes away or is this abnormal?thanks

JON

I think you are describing the resonance sound.

I have had good luck with this ,Try to loosen everything back up .Now start with the rear header and tighten this first to the head then attach the front header but leave it loose .Attach the collector (j pipe) and tighten it the catalyst inlet but leave it loose to the front and rear header .Tighten the front header then tighten the J pipe to the headers .This should solve the problem as once the headers are secured to the heads the J pipe will flex enough to allow for minor misfits between the headers and the J pipe .Jens

thats funny. I have had a tick and its been driving me crazy, now i notice that its coming from the headers. One question though, wil that small leak cause me to loose any power.
