Brake light stays on sometimes

Every now and then (completely randomly and intermitantly) the e-brake light stays on when i start the car. I never use the e-brake except on hills.

Then it will do strange things like go off when i press the regular foot brake, but come back on when i hit the gas again. On off, on off with no pattern i can see.

Any ideas? There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the car but i don't have an owners manual so i don't know if that light can imply more than just the e-brake being engaged.

Thanks!

The brake light can light up with any malfunction with the brake system. As said above, check your fluids.

Yep, it's most likely your float gauge for your brake fluid. It gets sticky every once in a while and needs to be moved around. It's a little messy, but gets the job done

Some early models had sensors go bad in the brake fluid cap.
