HELP..Maintenance light keeps on flashing
Right when i start the the car i just noticed that the maintenance required light flashes like 8-10 times. I dunno if it used to do this before but i just started to notice it. Does this mean i need a oil change?? Its only been 2000 miles since my last one? Or maybe my headers are leaking?? Or maybe the light has done this ever since i got the car and i just noticed it. Cause all the lights on the dash flash for a sec when you start the car but the maintenance required light flashes like 10 times.
Thanks in advance for the help.

i get that right now too, but most likely the dealer did not reset it when they changed the oil. The light is programed to flash every 6-7K miles or so to remind u to service the car. Look in ur manual and it should tell u how to reset it. U hold down one of the buttons near the odometer for like 10 sec.s while putting the key into position II....double check it in ur manual. My v6 accord does the same thing and i always have to reset it since i dont go to the dealer for service.

Maintenance required light
This question I will answer. For some strange reason, you can't reset the Maintenance required light, until it comes on. So, if you have your maintenance done before the light comes on, it will start flashing at start-up for ten seconds from 6,000 to 7,500 miles, and stay on constantly after 7,500 miles, until it is reset.

chill out....it flashes like 2500 miles before you actually need service, then it stays on like 1500 miles...i have to agree, it scared the piss out of me the first time i saw it, but its natural..im gonna call a friend at the dealer tomorrow to learn how to turn it off...i'll keep you posted

But like nicky said its set to the factory scheduled maintenance - so its just a reminder. And just cos the light comes on doesnt mean there's something wrong with the car or if it doesnt come on doesnt mean there's nothing wrong.

the scheduled tune up is at 7500miles, i would wait til you hit like 7000miles, then schedule your appt....i paid upfront for mine, and tried to take it in at 6000 and they said i had to pay for it, so that is my suggestion....i try to change mine every 4000miles, but thats b/c of the way i drive....Acura says, 7500, 15000, 22500, so it depends on your preference

To reset it you turn the car off, then hold the reset button and the button below it...while still holding the 2 buttons at the same time...turn the car on (the light will eventually flash)...still holding the 2 buttons....turn the car completely off...WHILE STILL HOLDING THE BUTTONS...start the car and hold the two buttons until the light flashes...then it will turn off!!! It sounds bad, but it takes like 30 seconds!!!
