Getting my car back today!!!!

New tranny is in!

So my question is to everyone here...

What do you want me to ask the dealer, regarding the new replacement??? Anything?

Or do we already know everything?

They also went ahead and replaced my right-rear speaker. Defective, I guess.... And took it upon themselves to do the Moonroof TSB.

Props to McGrath Acura in Westmont.

I thought they weren't going to replace your tranny?

So you're saying a "new" one is giving you crap already?

Damn, this is sad.

cool beans. I noticed their are like 25 comlaints now. We need everyone to report.

How does the new trans feel? any different? what did they say in regard to all this. I think Westmont is supposed to be one of the better dealerships.

I'm heading over there shortly and I'm really interested to see how it feels.

I wonder if there's any sort of "break in" period with a new tranny?

I'll be sure to ask the questions and see what I can dig up.

I drove mine easy for the 1st 150 miles, then started getting on it harder to seee. Then it started showing its problems the harder I drove. I have not floored it off the line yet or anything like that. Just more than half throttle bursts.

It felt fine for the first 200 miles or so, then it started acting up again.

Ok, I'm back.

Car drives fine. It shifts MUCH better than before. And the SS shifts are picked up more quickly. I had an issue where I'd be at WOT or moderate WOT and I'd try to shift in SS, but the gear wouldn't change. No problems with that anymore.

Now, on to the good stuff.

From what the guys at McGrath know, there is NO new technology; i.e. MDX crap, in the new tranny. There is a NEW manufacturer, but that's it. The clutch pack has been re-engineered, but the tranny on a whole is the same.

They did replace the torque converter and ECU. The car seems to ride really nice in the lowers gears when coasting... No bucking or slight torque converter lock up.

The ECU is shipped with every new tranny now.

They said that the new manufacturer has been building the trannys since the first of the year. He didn't say whom it was.

They have had to replace multiple trannys on cars, but ever since the new ones have started to come in, that has stopped. Granted it's only been a month...

So, in summary for those of you that wanted the MDX technology in your A/T, forget it. He did mention the NHTSA investigation, commented on my tires (liked the look and commented on the stock tires and the bubble/blowout issues), gave me a firm hand shake and sent me on my way.

Awesome service people at McGrath.

So what's up with transmission recalls rumors, is it going to happen or what?

Maybe new ECU is the solution? Maybe they can just recall ECU

The ECU def. isn't the solution.

Although, I'm also curious to why the ECU was replaced? EricL, Scalbert, anyone?????
