headers???

I was looking at the comptech headers but theyre a little bit out of my price range. I was wondering if there are any other headers that add good power and sound that arents as expensive. Ill appreciate any feed back you guys can give me . thanks!

like brian said... search button helps a lot.

But the main gyst of it all in cliff notes form:

1. You get what you pay for. You pay more for comptech for better quality.
2. No one has had cracking, resonance, or fitment issues with comptechs.
3. Megans, OBX, Alphawerks, and Stone either have fitment issues, resonance, cracking after about a year, or a combination of all three. Some have had no issues @ all.
4. Alphawerks has just fairly recently undergone a lot of drama on these boards with a groupbuy, in which the headers just did not fit @ all, nor function properly. I do not believe these issues have been resolved.
5. You are able to sent your headers out to a company called Jet Hot to get them coated with a special coating to lower temperatures and improve exhaust flow.
6. You get what you pay for.

I hope I covered everything.

How much of a drop in miles per gallon can you expect with CT headers, or any headers for that matter. Is it significant??

You actually GAIN MPG with headers. Due to the better breathing....

DO NOT buy any other headers than Comptechs... you will probably pay more in the end for the other "brands."

100% agree. You're better off saving the cash and getting some used CT's when you can afford it. In fact there is a set on the Black Market for a really good price if it's legit.

It's not a lot. I saw a difference after I installed headers.

In fact with headers, intake, exhaust, cooling mods and spacers, I got about 32 mpg on my way to VA a couple months ago. And I was doing about 80 the entire way.

headers and cold air intake (CAI) are the way to go for a good start. I have OBX's and they were a bitch to put on but they add power, have a good roar to them and lost all the "ceramic" coating shortly after installation. Who cares, I don't drive w/ the hood open but disapprove b/c that is supposed to lower temps and make them more efficient Welcome to the board, buy the CT's if you can and get an AEM CAI.

Comptech's are your friend. All other header companies, and hope that they fit.

PM me for prices on any Comptech part. I sell the headers for $1050 shipped.

I've been holding off for Comptech headers only. You really do get what you pay for.

This is exactly what happened with the 4th gen Maxima community too-- the $800 Cattman headers/y-pipe were wonderful, but the cheapo $300 OBX and Stone Racing Headers were shit and almost everyone had quality issues with those.

if he can...

bigguyonbike couldn't do it with S/C + HBP + I/C

steve couldn't do it with S/C + HBP

TypeR hasn't done it w/ the 3.5 swap

they have all come close, steve shattered my trap speed, but nobody has beat my ET.

I also modded my car for a fraction of what those listed above spent, performance wise.

OK, there, the pot has been stirred.

i just completed an installation of aw headers. took about six hours for two of us. the only fitment issues was the need to dremel out the holes for the studs on the headers that appeared to be a bit irregular due to the welding. other than that, not fitment problems at all.
