From what I am aware of only one person had head work done. He had only a port and polish done which did not provide any real gains. Apparently the heads flow very well in stock form.

However, large valves would be interesting but not yet attempted. Nor do I see it being done anytime soon.

I am the one who did it lost 15hp and 10 torque dont do it unless you send to penn. or calif. to extrode hown they will do the right job for you if your mech. doesnt have a flow bench they are guessing like my guy. When I had my dakota done I pick up 35 HP and 30# of Torque coct was $500.00 it was worth it.

DO NOT send any work to Extrude Hone in Cali. I sent my intake manifold there and had a very unpleasant experience. I had to call the PA office to get things straightened out.

What was the final outcome? Did it produce any measurable results?

It was probably a few ponies but nothing to write home about. They did a decent job on the polish but didn't really port it at all.

I found this over on the TL Forum.

This is from a guy that did head work for a living (Ex- Cylinder Head Engineer for Ford/Roush Racing)

"I spent eight years as a cylinder head engineer for one of the big three and I will tell you that unless you are going to do some major modifications to a Honda engine, port and polishing the heads would not gain anything. Honda cylinder heads are some of the best cylinder heads for performance straight from the factory. I have a friend who works for Edelbrock and they were seriously investigating in making after market cylinder heads for Honda engines and after it was said and done they decided they could not improve upon the design enough to justify the investment. So they just stay with the factory heads. The biggest thing that is overlooked with porting and polishing heads is you might improve your flow numbers but you might kill the swirl and tumble in the port. This will cause you to lose power especially in a fuel injected engine. Also should never do major head modifications without modifying your cam profile. The change in flow pattern in the head needs a change in the cam to gain the full benefit of the port and polish. But with the car save your money and leave the heads alone."

Before going to the valves I would look into new cams. This was being looked into but I am unsure what the current status is. Having the 3rd cam lobe makes the upgarde a bit more balanced.
