I would wait till the 05's (new body) are out and the 04's drop in price...that will save you $$ and give you some more time to save for a house.

no supercharged cobra for 05. just the gt's. you want a blower you'll have to wait till 06 or pick up a holdover 04. I wouldn't by a used one, they have all been abused and not broken in properly, you can almost bet on that.

I'd say keep the CL

$33k for the cobra... then you'll need a winter car (again).

Save your money for a townhouse or a house.....

:wurd: if I were you I would either wait till the 05's are getting ready to roll out and then pick up a new 04 cobra at lower than msrp (they took off almost 7k over the phone when I got my 3.0 cl back in 99) and still save for a townhouse to park the shit at...OR...get a used one now if you have to get a different car. I say used because you can get them cheep...like 27 and they will probably have some mods done to them already. If you get one new...you will mod it...no doubt. You will drive it hard as well...same is the original owner might have done from time to time. I am sure you can find one that someone got right when it came out...took care of it (just like you do with your cars) and just cant afford it anymore. That way you at least dont blow all the money you have started saving for a house.

I say wait to get an 04 when the 05's are out and save for a house...

do it bro, youve had the ITCH for a car for SOOOO LOOOONG NOW. you got a hell of alot of positive equity in the CL, its practically falling apart (your spoiler, tire bubble, etc) the resale/trade in value on the CL drops like 20 bucks a DAY, that cobra would be a fucking MONSTER, personally, id rather have a 350Z, or G35C, just for my own personal tastes and i know i would be a bad bad boy with a car as fast as a new cobra.

the idea of needing a winter car, ehh, i dunno man, your part of town, and chicago is FLAT, we got nice wide roads, very few hills, tons of straight highways, etc. the guys with winter cars are mostly all east coast, and i know why, i lived in new york for 3 years and it took some getting used to!! all the hills mountains, super windy roads with 2 way traffic and no barriers, etc. you NEED a really stable winter vehicle on there, out here by us, its not that necessary, id drive an 04 cobra year round, worst case scenario, get yourself a couple 40 lb sand bags and a set of blizzaks.

I wouldn't exactly say his CL is falling apart. I'd wait until next spring and see whats doing with the 05 Stangs.

They are not going for over MSRP around here anyways. I priced out a 03 Cobra convertible last fall when they had some rebates on them. IIRC they had $2500 cash back and I also got X-Plan which is 4% over invoice. The sticker on the vert was like $39.5k, and I could have it one out the door for about $ 34k after everyting was discounted. The coupe would have been a hair over $30k.

For the money its a badass car, but I personally would suggest waiting another 6 months to year until the next gen come out. The next gen Cobra's are going to be more pricey and wont be discounted, so thats a consideration.

If you are going to get a Cobra for that much, you might as well look at used Z06's or even brand new C5s.

really?

a friend of mine has been checking them out lately (in NY) and he said none of the dealers will work with him at all, the dealers say they are selling the 04's as fast as they can get them in.

Two of my friends have them. Driven both of them (convertible and a hardtop)

The hard top I've driven had exhaust and intake done and a short throw shifter. 415 RWHP. It pulls real nice. Especially once it's hit 4800rpms!

Another thing to know is the boost doesn't come on right away. So if you baby it, it'll get decent gas milage.

Things that are annoying...

interior design
hood shuts like shit, you have to slam it down
general lack of finess on doors/hood/trunk...

These are all things you know already I'm sure.

Kevin (another member of this board) already gave you some feedback in the other thread you opened. He traded his 03 6MT in for the Cobra.

He has "car feever" like you do. He's looking at M3's now... Glad I got this shit out of my system. I'll be happy with no car payments for a few years.

There will ALWAYS be another car you want man... go buy a fuggin house already. And put a ring on your tumor.

They'll be a 06' Cobra waiting for you in a little bit (and it will have a 10x better interior and a more powerful engine)
