Has anybody made the ashtray light to work??

Looking at the top of the ashtray there is a light already there but for some reason it doesnt light up. I thought it was the bulb and replaced it but it wasnt...does anybody have the ashtray accessory maybe that comes with an adaptor. Anyways I think its pretty cool if I can make it work so if you have coins in there you wont need to turn on the map light on. I think ill just wire it to the turning lights in the fuse box.

any insights

Ask the dealer about the smokers package. It's the ashtray and cigarrette lighter option. I assume that with the smokers package installed, the light will shine on the ashtray.

I almost bought the smokers package, but I decided not to smoke in the car

Might be in the Helms manual (I don't have one yet).

Do your lights have to be on for that light to come on?

i did this the other day when i took apart the console

the ground wire isn't connected, that is why it doesn't work. just splice into the wire and attach it to any ground, the only thing by doing that it it won't dim with the cars dimmer, just will go on and off

Is there an easier way to get to the ground without getting to the wire without taking the whole console apart?

no cause the wire only runs from the light to a connector, and that wire is about 2-4 inches long

you can try to just remove the passenger panel and see if u can get to it from there

That's odd. My '03 TL-S lights up in the coin tray/ashtray (if you got the smoker's package.) Maybe Acura didn't want it functional for the CL/CL-S for some reason??

I think the dealer turns it on if you pay extra for the package.

My light has worked since day 1, but only with the headlights on. If they are off, then that little change tray light doesn't come on.

all u really need to do is get to the harness which is right behind the power outlet, which u need to remove the passenger panel to access it,

then attach the ground wire to the harness and bam coin tray light
