he's got
a 92 civic hatchback with a H22A motor with I/H/E with slight weight reduction..

do i race?

he is telling me that he can easily beat new m3's..basically its the fastest car on the road with exception to 911 twin turbo

is he talking shit?
or should i race for pink slip?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a H22a engine is a prelude engine. And from what I heard, there is not much mod potential for a prelude engine as there is for a B18c engine.

a friend of mine has a hatch with the h22a, and he hit 13.5 all motor, bone stock engine.. now his best time of late was a 12.6 with nitrious. However these runs were with slicks, not street compound tires.

hahaha... o man H22s on an old EG... that's craziness... I've seen them run fast ass times... like low low 13s and whatnot just all motor... bone stock... prepare to be ridin' a bicycle for the next couple years if you're racing for pinks...

you have no chance amir unless you ask him to race around a twisty track. the h22a doesn't fit very well in the engine bay and the tires rub really bad....friend of mine had one.

when we raced he started in *2nd* gear...caught me by ~90 and just **RAN** past me.

Hey amir - Listen to everyone. Do not race dude for serious stuff. If you are doing a friendly race then fine but that's it. I raced this fool around my girl's parents way in a 92 hatchback with a LS vtec motor and all the $hit done to it. He was running 12.9 and completely obliterated me. It wasn't even funny. His boy has the prelude setup and he's not to far off. I felt like trading in my cls after that run, but those civics were not daily drivers. No ac, radio, seats ..nothing.

A guy at the install shop i go to has almost exact same setup, minus the headers, but with ECU. He is running low 13's all day long on street tires...
So if you race, do it for shits and giggles, not for pinks......

He'll take you in a straight race, but you can beat him in the twisties. A guy I knew tried it, and said there are some issues when you do that swap. Don't remember everything, but b/c engine is too heavy for that car and car gets too front heavy so handling goes down the crapper. Also, if I recall correctly, the wheel is hard to turn cause of some issue with power steering when you plop in an H22

200 hp stock combined with a 2300-2500lb car works pretty well.

Not to mention you are getting like 168lbs. of torque in that dinky lil car....

It has tons of performance potential...if you go turbo........bigger block...stouter bottom end....and just plain more displacement....it does the trick...

My civic with a B18C I/H/E/cams and lightened up car... ran 12.8's on slicks - stock internals. With a built B18C... 11's are no probs.

A civic with H22A I/H/E will run low 13's on slicks and low 14's on street tires. That car has WAY too much torque.

I'll run this guy with my CL... on street tires. Motor to Motor!

It's like this...

If the guy wants to race a CL-S, then his car (civic - H22A) has some severe problems. I used to street-race a LOT back in college and you wouldn't waste your time running a big heavy car like the CL-S unless you get your a*s whipped all the time and need to justify how much money you have spent on your beater.

I'd run him if he just gave me the 'go'... meaning, I get to launch first and he can launch thereafter. And YES... as-is no supercharger!

it is difficult for them to hook up on street tires. i was putting down better 60ft. times in my auto than my friend was in his (all motor) b18 hatch. but at the 330' mark he caught me and slowly pulled on me the whole rest of the way. i ran a 14.3 he ran a 14.09. on slicks w/ a bit of tuning his car should do high 12's.

w/ light wheels and drag radials i think i could hit a 14.0 or maybe 13.99, conditions permitting.

Yup... took me a while to get my B18c hatch to go from 13's to 12's to 11's... 1 year to be exact (and 3 motors!)

Weight and traction are the biggest hurdles after you have the power.

I won the 2 of the first 3 all-motor titles at the Battle of the Imports (Palmdale ~5000ft altitude). 13.3 E.T and 12.7 E.T. That 1/2s took 8 months and 2 motors to attain!! There's about a 0.5s correction to sea-level. Actually exactly a month after the last Battle, the car ran a 11.9 at Bakersfield.

The allmotor cars nowadays run 10.58 and upwards... very impressive! Some use the H22A motor (stroked to 2.5) and the B18C's stroked to 2.0. Individual TB's VP-racing gas, and what-not!

As opposed to the awesome weight distribution in a CL-S??? The CL-S is 62/38 which sucks hard. Depending on how the suspension is set up, it may handle extremely well. I hate to sound like a broken record, but it comes down to a simple power to weight ratio. He will embarrass you.

I raced my buddies Hatch back w/ a typeR swap w/ i/h/e v-afc volks rims.

well i have to say after the swap that was one fast mofo but I still pulled on him at around 6000rpm in 2nd AND by the end of 3rd had a good 2 cars on him. Even when he got a jump on me I managed to even out by 3rd gear.

One of our service tech's at pohanka acura has the same setup. Prelude engine in a hatch back. I did race him once on the parkway but that was BEFORE my intake, headers, exhaust and he kinda well. burned me. so good luck buddy. Prey that he misshifts

Why are these guys hating on swapped engines? I have a swap and race mine legitimately. It's not a matter of not being able to buy something nicer. It's fun to have a nimble car w/ lots of horsepower to make it move.

if i had a CL set up like yours I'd run him for a small amount of cash(like 10 or 20 bucks) because it sounds like it would be a good race. only bad thing about the H22 motors are THEY ARE HEAVVVVVY. I have a H22 in my car(it came out of the factory with it) it does decent for a stock accord but i know if Honda would have put some more alloy parts on it it would have been semi-hot.:P

I also raced a kid with a H22A swap with I/H/E in a Civic and i beat him twice at the cop sponsered drag night. He would pull away off the line but I would catch him about half way and pull away strong.

How the hell did your Accord come out of the factory with a Prelude engine? I know the Euro Accord type R uses a tweaked H22, but you cannot get that here. Are you sure you're not talking about the f22, which your car would have.
