guage cluster help

I have been having a little trouble with my gauges lately, my mechanic thinks the whole cluster might be shot. Here is my question, if I unplug my current cluster will it loose all of its information or will it show the correct mileage when I plug it back in? Second question, if I have to get a used gauge cluster will it show the correct mileage or will it show that from the previous car? Thanks for the help.

Pretty sure it would show the mileage of the previous car.

If you need a Type S Cluster...

I have another I bought for an LED project but I never got around to it.

I can sell it to you.

my CL is a non type s, could be a good upgrade if it is plug and play. I need to do a little research first, but I will keep you in mind and could PM if needed. There is a TL-P cluster up on ebay right now with close mileage to where im setting so I may just grab that one. Do you or any other member have experience doing a gauge cluster swap in our cars? Is it a PITB?

I don't have any experience doing it but I thought it was plug n' play.

Let me know.

Mine are white face gauges.

Which I like better.

The mileage is stored on the cluster. So your cluster will always show your mileage no matter how many times you disconnect it. The used cluster will show the mileage of whatever it came out of.

it is plug and play. ppl on the tl side have done it but a few things dont work like their supposed to. one that i remember is that the tl-p cluster has tcs and the tl-s cluster has vsa. when u turn either of those off it wont show on the cluster if u have a diff one. cant remember which one it is but i think if u put the tl-s cluster in the tl-p the vsa light will always be on.

a few months back a thread was created about switching cluster.

and the mileage is stored on the cluster.
