well, the middle hood support is in the way, it doesnt allow the upper and lower center of the new grill to pass through because on the original grill there was a gap that cleared the upper and lower middle portions. i believe titand19 cut this off his hood and rewelded it elsewhere (that's what i read in a previous post i searched), but my hood is cf so im not sure if that leaves me with less options.

looks excellent, how did you hold the mesh on?

I'll take pics of my hood support and post them after work. It'll give you an idea of what you need to do.

Hey blue, is this a totally new grille taht you've been working on? Or did you just re-fab your old one? If not the latter, I'd like to purchase your '03 grille from ya.

mesh is held on by epoxy on the back...not a lot so that it doesnt make it bulky on the sides. hopefully when you show me what you did, i can show bring those pics to a shop...i don't really want to mess with my hood myself since its cf and i don't want it to crack. thanks man

So you bought the outer ring? Or the whole grille assembly?

Painted flat black?

Where would you get the black pearl done?

(Sorry, can you tell I'd really like to do this mod). I hope you don't mind if I potentially bite off your style a bit... =/.

which grill are you talking about....my old one or this one in the thread??

this one, i basically did what titand19 did and cut off the entire middle bars of the grill, filled in with bondo and painted black

my previous one is just an 03 grill surround with the center ring on the grill painteed black

How much did the '03 grill surround cost? And you painted the center ring the same way you did your emblem in the back?

Did you simply take an oem grille, cut it out, and take bondo to it to fill in the gaps around the rim to accomplish this?

I've been wanting to do this myself.

Can you post a pic of the support on the cf hood so we can see how it compares to the stock hood.

first use two smaller suports mounted on the corners, then cut the center support out, this way it still has support, but in a different area. and invest in some better mesh, expecially after all this work.
