Great... got rear-ended!!
Got rear-ended on my way home from work today... moron in a Daewoo came and hit me quite hard - I saw it coming and pulled to the left so that I wouldn't hit the car in front of me and let off the brakes to minimize the impact... Phuk
My neck hurts now!
I had to sit in the car for 5 mins to cool down or else I would have gone bonkers. Anyways... they seemed okay (not hurt, that is...). I feel somewhat sore... we'll have to see tomorrow morning.
Just a bunch of hassle now with the whole claims thing etc.

Allmotor, sorry to hear about the accident, glad you were not hurt worse....be careful with that neck...it can be a bummer for years to come...have someone look at it....always seems to get worse before it gets better....Sith

Definitely see a doctor and get treatment if you're sore. You will probably feel worse tomorrow. Last time I got rear ended, I had headaches for months. Some Insurance companies judge the severity of the accident upon the amount of the medical including chiropractic, physical therapy, etc.
Glad you weren't hurt too seriously and were able to walk away.

to hear this news.
When I got into my accident (company vehicle, not CL).2 yrs ago. I went to go see the Chiropractor that day... he adjusted me.. I found myself really soar 2 days later...
I told her insurance co. i did not want a dime.... they told me I needed to sign some paperwork and accept a check.... the check was for 3500.00....
I paid my chiropractor and went on with life... if I was in the CL-S, I think I would of been in jail to this day..

The car doesn't look that bad at all actually... one of the letters of the license plate is flattened, so you can imagine how much the bumper got depressed... however it all snapped back out and appears to be in-shape. The alignment seems to be somewhat off... I'll have to have the adjustor take a look.
I'll take a look under the hood to see if the exhaust was pushed in... I have a flex-section on my downpipe which will take some bending... and will check for leaks.

smart move...the sooner the better... you could have some ruptured blood vessels and you could have some internal bleeding... ya never know..
You are going to be sore after your internal organs got slammed into your rib cage from the initial impact... it not like the shit is all tied down or packed real tight in there... it moves around..
just trying to make you aware, not scare the shit out of you.. but if you say it is not a severe hit, you might be okay...
FYI: Some people are soar for months after car wrecks...it is hard on the joints, organs, brain, etc.

FIRST - Go to both urgent care AND a chiropracter......chiro is the best for whiplash, not an MD. I know this first hand
SECOND - DO NOT accept a check from the other ins. AT ALL (at least until your medical is done and the car is repaired)!! Tell them you want them to contact your chiro and work out a payment program. Also, get alot of damage estimates for your car; the higher the better.
If the other ins gives you crap, retain a lawyer right away. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING!! (this also allows for the possibility of a higher pain + suffering adjustment)
I had this happen a few years ago to me, and it was hell. 6 months of chiro, and the other ins. wanted me to pay out of pocket for it (this is during undergrad...notmuch $$), as well as for my car damage, and that they would reimburse me for whatever they thought was far AFTER I had paid.
I began to scream at the adjuster, and it all went downhill from there.
I retained a laywer, and he set me up with a chiropracter that he contracted with. He also handled the repairs to my car with the dealership. This way he was in control of the entire expense portion of the claim.
And please do not settle with his insurance just because the process is a headache. I did, and I still have a sore neck every now and again where it was injured almost 4 years ago (I was moving, and needed the $$ )
Good luck man...

Sucks to hear that, i hope you can get everything fixed and your problems recover asap! As everyone else has said, get this checked out right away. My step mom got into the biggest accident last year, she spun around at went into a pole at about 30 mph! She still goes to the doctor every week, and probably will continue for a couple years.
I know yours is no way near this fortunately, but it still is important to get checked out right away, and check every now and then just to make sure.
As for insurance, i know a good lawyer should it come to that.
My dad and uncle were also in a situation similar to yours, they got rear ended and they needed neck braces for a couple months, but i think they healed up fine. With proper care, you should feel alot better and hopefully never have to deal with any injuries in the future.

:wtf: Sorry to hear that man. Glad to hear that you kept your cool under the circumstances. If I were you, I'd contact a lawyer immediately. Don't talk to anyone until you speak to a lawyer.
I was in a car accident 6yrs ago while riding shotgun in my friends car. Some dumbass rear-ended us resulting in my neck and back getting pretty messed up. I, nor my friend were seriously injured. But after it was all said and done and everyone got paid including the doctors, I got a check from the lawsuit for over $15000. I wasnt even driving!
6yrs later, my neck and back are fine and i'm super glad I had gotten a lawyer to take care of the nightmare of talking to the insurance company. Well worth it if you asked me.

Ram, I was in a similar situation and I went to an excellent chiropractor that's pretty close to where I live, so it's not too far from where you're at. His name is Dr. Fuchs (pronounced Fukes) and seriously, he took good care of me & is a nice guy. The facility where he works has massage/therapy booths as well, so you can get all your shit done in one place.
As was pointed out in that thread, don't sign shit until you and your car are back to tip-top condition. As a rule, you usually will get 30% of the medical bill extra to keep in your pocket. If your med. bill is $3k, you'll get $1k extra. Good luck bro, you can hit me up on my cell if you need any advice/info.

See a doctor soon.
As for the money part. Hope you get compensated. I wasn't so lucky. My car got messed up to the tune of over 5K. I had absolutely no pain. Lucky me. My sister on the other hand has problems to this day and it's been almost 6 months. The kicker, the other driver has no insurance. In Jersey, if you are on welfare there is a "dollar a day" type policy. That's what he had. It only covers him, not anyone else. , I know.
Hope you have better luck.

I was rearended about 6 months ago in my company vehicle. It was really minor, but got $500 for loss of wages that day. Just get to a Dr immediately...you're guaranteed at least a grand even if you have nothing more than a headache.

Thanks for the help guys... I am not really going to try to extort money out of this as I really wouldn't want to be on the other side of the coin!
I am just leaving for the urgent care... its still sore and the pain is near my back as well - its not bad, but its annoying.
I looked under the car briefly and it looks okay - I'll chat with the adjustor later on today.
The letters on my license-plate got smooshed, so the bumper got depressed quite a bit.
