Grade Logic useless??

Iv had my 03 cls auto for a while now, baught in new in 02, but ever since I'v had the car aound 65-75 miles the tranny seems to hickup once in awhile like goes into nuetral and back to d5, is this the "grade logic" at work, that's the impression I got from reading some messages way way back, it does on the blue moon happen under 65, but have never had a problem above 75, it seems like the tranny gets confused as to wich gear to be in in the 65-75 mph range......

The grade logic will downshift from 5th to 4th or 4th to 3rd (depending on speed) when you are going downhill to assist in slowing the car down. Same happens for uphill; downshifts to raise the revs to keep you moving smoothly. It shouldn't go into neutral and then back into gear.

i've experienced this, but at about 45mph...small hicup, kinda like the rpms dip, then go back up.

but i just ignore it...only happened a few times...

Might just be me, but the grade logic does not seem to work as well as it once did on a downhill section of freeway I drive every day. The transmission was replaced with a 5th generation rebuild about 5,000 miles ago.

Might be "overdrive" or out of the torque converter lockout or similar. I get it, too. It's not a full downshift, but rather a 1/4 downshift. Any better explanations of this phenomenon out there in Acura land?!

yeah it's hte lockup. or shoud I say it's un-locking up. when the rpms go up just a little bit, but not a noticable downshift it's definitely un-locking to let the revs go up so as not to strain the tranny or the motor.

I know my car well enough that I can just lissten and tell you exactly what the rpm gauge reads. Mayb EI'm just weird like that though.
