Gotta hate those trucks.......

Why do guys in stock engine raised f-150's with massive tires try to act hard and race?

I handed a guy his ass by about 7 car lengths, flashed my emergency lights, then slowed down to talk shit, but he blew by me then he flashed his? whats up with these fags?

Big trucks are a good race until about 30, becasue of all the torque. I hate it when these guys think that they are fast because they have Flowmasters. They make alot of noise but don't go anywhere.

Yah, a truck with $20,000 dollars in mods, and has never stepped foot off road, thats what kills me. Trucks are for workin'. Any hard ass construction or oilfield worker better recognize and bow down to a real car!!

only 2 trucks (still in production) that i can think of worth racing with a hot rod(like a CL-S or TL-S) is 5.9 R/T dakota(still that's a pretty easy kill from what i've read) and a F-150 Lighting THOSE I'VE HEARD ARE CRAZY FAST.I was at a drag strip once (from the way the truck acted) he didn't have his foot on the brakes but he just was hot dogging and he was SMOKING the snot out those tires.(it was a Lighting) he never ran completely down the strip. he's run 1/4 of the way or how ever long he could smoke the tires and basically run 55-60(guessing) rest of the way( I think he was afraid of it was part of it ) only thing I that I hate about the hot rod trucks are to me a truck suppose to haul stuff, pull a trailer and occassionally go off road to me if you wanna haul ass not branches and stuff in the back get a vette or mustang or something that matches your mallet haircut

Well I believe a Lightning runs the 1/4 mile in about 13.8 seconds. That is fast enough to put it with the big dogs. I also thing it is a really nice looking truck. A lot of people would say they can't imagine why someone would want to buy a luxury car in a coupe. Everyone has their own tastes. The Cyclone and Typhoons couldn't haul much weight at all (something like 500 lbs max), but they looked sporty and were Vette killers in their day. Man, I love the Typhoon and the GNX. They shared a lot of the same technology and both put out some really impressive numbers.

yeah trucks have no top end at all, if it isnt a lightning(or in a year, the v10 viper engine dodge truck) then you will smoke a truck easily, i have a 93 chevy silverado with a 5.7 350 and when i race it(rarely, its a truck it wasnt meant to be fast and furious) i can hold my own with any car almost in 1st gear, then they proceed to put bus lengths on me

I dunno about you guys but my good friend adam is just about finished with his project car. Its an AWD 10 sec truck ( SUV ) 93 GMC Tyhoon basically a blazer but all wheel drive and turbo.
( Maniac just dropped 10 g's on his top end! Hes running something ridiculous 80 mm ball bearing turbo with pontiac heads, crazy fuel system, and slicks... DAILY DRIVER (of course w/o the slicks)

He ran 13.1 with just a 3" downpipe ( stock ) @ Carlsbad.
Pretty mean car... IT KILLS IN THE QUARTER!

Raced him in my TL-P stock 80 roll +.... Took 2 cars instantly but once we hit 110 all he saw was my emergencies...

Now the bastard has top end and hes squeezing!

BTW If you live in LA and you ever see a white typhoon... dont even turn your head in his direction

Looks like a blazer... but man this thing moves!!!!

Typhoon = 4.3L V6 Vortech Turbocharged I think 280 or 300 hp stock. I heard they made only 20000 of them.

The motor is identical to the Grand National.

I admit the homeboy is the typical truck driver! RoFLMAo! But either way I give him props on his SUV. The thing is a beast!
Anyone in LA wanna race him ??? Im sure there are several import turbo cars out here that can take his money...
He just got his car and hes dying to race someone for a few bills...
Eddieroe@hotmail.com Remember his car is an SUV... not the lightest fastest thing around...

Yeah my friend with a 5.9 R/T Dakota thought he'd be a smart a$$ and rev his motor to a Typhoon. I was in the truck with him I said dude your gonna get your a$$ handed to you man(they we're sitting at a red light) he's like but I got 2 more cylinders(I think the Typhoon atleast a catback system on it(probably had headers but i'm not sure) I hear him rev back to the Dakota. (I think my buddy thought it just had a "run of the mill" 4.3 Liter (Like in normal S-10s and Blazers)(which I admit he'd smoke with a 5.9) then the light goes green basically I was right That Typhoon STOMPED that R/T . He looks over at me and said what does he have a 350 or something in that man. I said no it's just a turned up 4.3 Liter.
The nice thing about them is usually with trucks(not to knock trucks) but usually the weight to power ratio isn't as great with cars cause of more metal but cause they put a "hell of a turned up V-6 in a smaller truck(than like a 1/2 ton) that will run with 350s and V-8s 1/2 tons(well except Lightnings)

Uh...wrong, chief...where do I start...

first of all, Vortech makes centrigugal superchargers, not turbochargers...

secondly...the Grand National had a 3.8 liter turbocharged motor...Some of the prototype Tys/Sys had the Buick 3.8, but not production models did...

The Lightning is baddd truck, well I am kinda bias cause I am a ford driver lol, but my brother has a Cl s, so I check you guys out every once in a while. Anywayzz, to clear some stuff up, a stock L will run close to 13.5 or so, however add some slicks, and change the s/c pully basically spend an extra grand or so or less that truck will get in the lower 12's and believe me they do, I;ve seen one race agaisnt a 911. had it to the end but as you guys know the aerodynamics of a L is a brick wall. so it did nt have much topend. Still a 12 sec 4000lb+ truck isn;t too shabby. Wish my Cobra ran that fast. One day however.

A 4.3 liter was the standard for v6 engines from the factory which are made for all sonoma's and s-10's from approx. 85 to 93. From there they attach a different INTAKE assembly (chevy=vortec, gmc used the same vortec on its 4.3 Z vin code trucks) the typhoon or syclone motor and cladding was a package offered that is why they are limited in production. Basically what i mean is that yes your right about a sy/ty not having vortec INTAKE but they are built with L35 heads, both the same, the sy/ty's have a special intake and exhaust manifold system designed to support the mitsubishi/garrett t3 turbo(stock) and intercooler........ I rest my case... This is coming from Ed's friend Adam (owner of typhoon and syclone)

you guys confused each other:

vortech = centrifugal supercharger manufacturer (vortech engineering)

vortec = general motors brand name for their series of truck motors.

pull_t thought you were referring to the vortech supercharger because you added the 'h' in your original post.

How about low 13's out of a 6500 lb truck.....that get's driven daily...for about $2300 in add on's...that will run for 400000 miles....

They're everywhere, so be careful. If you hear flowmasters, don't worry be happy. If you hear clatter, then just tell your girlfriend he's a stupid redneck and isn't worth the time. We'll keep the secret just between us...hehehe

Diesel Dynamics is now running 11.96@110mph on a street driven daily driver.

when you rice burners get another 1000ftlbs of torque you'll understand about our 'slow' trucks.

There are 750+hp 1300+ftlb trucks running around on the streets that are running 11, 12 and 13sec 1/4s.

I make over 1000ftlbs and about 500hp at the tires in my 14sec 7600 lb truck. A little laughing gas will put me into the low 13s.

there's nuthin like a 1.8 60ft time in a 7000lb vehicle!!!

The best part is that I can run 14's with one of your cars in the bed..

Think we ought to tell them that we can get all this power out of a slow, stinky, and underpowered diesel while still getting 22MPG on the highway even with 400HP? Not bad for 7000 pounds.

BTW... did I mention that the engine in the Cummins Ram is just a little 360 straight 6? I bet your engines couldnt turn my radiator fan.

I'm not trying to flame you truck guys - to each his own.

BUT, I rather enjoy the comfort of my CL. Any vehicle can be made fast. I never need to haul around a motor home in the bed of my pickup truck, so I decided to get something that I can parallel park in City and drive in only one lane of a highway

Soup with a fork huh??

I get 2mpg(16-19mpg) better than stock, make 300 more rwhp and 500 more ftlb of torque... wait til I get twins and NOS

My engine will last 300k-1million miles. My clutch will last indefinitely.. that's a whole other story.

Roll on acceleration puts vetts to shame.. I know, I've done it. 2100 rpm is my torque peak.. 70mph on the highway.

It'll only run 125mph unless I add an overdrive.

I can tow a lot more weight than allowed by the law, a lot faster than it's leagal to pull it for as far as you want to go over any highway you can name.

My air conditioner will freeze you out on a 102* day. I have enough room for me and 4 friends in the cab..5 if we're really close

oh yeah, I can probably out run you in the 1/4 mile too!!

danm thats one fast dodge. what kind of engine was in there? From the smoke it looked like a turbo diesel, but I may be wrong. Interesting how trucks are getting into the racing seen, I wonder whats next minivans??? LOL Actually I better take that back cause I saw a old chevy van that ran a high 12 sec 1/4. Had a mean engine in her.. Was just funny watching it run.

Don't give me that "probably" BS. What do you run?

(I must admit, that seeing a macho truck guy boast about creature comforts like AC is funny, though)

Tank. Hate to dissapoint you, but it took one hour, one part swap, and only a few hundred bucks to almost double my horsepower. For those that want a minor upgrade, you can add about 100 HP in one hour by changing one part in the older 12 Valve engine. On the newer 24V, all you have to do is plug in a fueling box, then at the push of a button you get an instant 100 HP. The box is ulually located on the steering colum, so it can be turned on and off as needed.

Doesnt get much easier than this...

cobrasak, yes that was a Cummins turbo diesel. 359 cid inline six.

Just because our trucks weigh 7000-8000 lbs., that does'nt mean these trucks can't run. Just like there are some scary fast imports, there are some very fast diesels. One guy recently dynoed 748 hp and way over 1200 ft lb of torque. The dyno could only measure 1200, so it possibly could have 1400. This is with a stock bottom end and ported stock head.

Pull_T, better get off your " "probably"BS " soap box. There are qiute a few Cummins around that can spank your Cobra. That truck you are questioning might not beat you in a drag race (he's not too far behind though) but could whip the crap out of you from a roll, that I am sure. And it's a 1 ton daully.

Quick Reply: Gotta hate drivers in those trucks.......
